*Official* 2nd Test at Lord's

2nd day seemed to have a lot more in it for the bowlers. Still not exactly a perfect bowling strip but it wasn't as bad as it seemed in the first day. Probably because Australia actually bowled very well and attacked the stumps though.
Sounds reasonable. An not entirely unexpected, given what we've seen from them in the past.
Forgive me for not reading the earlier pages, but what was the take on the English batting? My impression was that Lyth should have left the ball alone and Bell should know not to play those sort of deliveries through mid-wicket. Ballance and Root more down to the quality of the deliveries maybe? But I didn't see much of it, so others may differ.

Didn't see the play but saw the dismissals later.

Lyth poor shot.
Ballance played right back to a half volley and if he'd gone forward he'd have been fine.
Bell missed a straight one.
Root was a victim of himself, he comes out being positive and looking to score and just got it wrong. Can't slag him off too much as most of the time he digs us out of the hole we make.

apart from the wicket taking balls itself, Australia bowled very well throughout the first hour, they were pretty much pitching it up and attacking the stumps which England didn't really do when they bowled.

god that was a good yorker
