*Official* 1st Test at the SWALEC Stadium

So is this newfound ability as a captain a reflection on Cook or Bayliss? It has Bayliss all over it for mine - but then I don't know if Cook has just been stifled his whole captaincy career until now.

To be fair the same could be said for Clarke and Boof, and it's obviously a mix of both. I guess the telling factor is how they both run with it during a game when quick decisions need to be made.
The signs were there against NZ before Bayliss was there. IMO.

I think it's Bayliss

Cook almost reverted to type imo when Warner and Smith were cruising

Generally known that Cook is a yes man

I'd say that Bayliss/the other guy have told him to make his own decisions and it could be the making of him

Certainly this test has seen him implement vastly different field positions than ever before

I'd be really surprised if a captain was given zero leeway to make his own decisions by the coach, but I obviously have no idea what went on in the English dressing room.
Yeah 'controlled' perhaps a bit far, but Cook's captaincy was very much in line with how Moores wanted the game played. Not so sure on Flower.

Yeah I noticed that too. It was almost like the plan in his head didn't allow for Wood creating chances close in, so there was nobody there despite it being obvious he was creating problems. To his credit though, he got back on it when a wicket fell.

That could be true. I'm surprised a bloke who has been a pretty average captain until now has been hiding this sort of ability at the whim of the coach. England royally ****ed themselves for a number of years if that's the case.
