Given we're losing this, next match is crucial and I'd rather we have a solid batting order at least till 6 (ideally Haddin should make way for Nevill given how crap he's been in ages and this match). With Lyon bowling well we really don't need Watson's bowling.

I'm concerned about Starc's fitness, hope he can play, if he's out then it's a huge blow and would quite certainly mean we're losing the Ashes.

That might be true too, although in the past you'd think he had the freedom to make at least some decisions on the field, and a number of those seemed to be inexplicably negative. It's a bright start to this series though, and I guess only Cook knows how each of the coaches have affected his ability to do what he wants. We'll probably read about it in a book sometime in the future.

So is this newfound ability as a captain a reflection on Cook or Bayliss? It has Bayliss all over it for mine - but then I don't know if Cook has just been stifled his whole captaincy career until now.

To be fair the same could be said for Clarke and Boof, and it's obviously a mix of both. I guess the telling factor is how they both run with it during a game when quick decisions need to be made.
