Seems like Ballance might end up owing quite a few runs that he doesn't look like being able to deliver at the moment. How we could have done with having NZ at 42-3.

Well that ton in the 2nd innings of the Dubai(?) test was gun, counterattacked against the spinners by cutting them off the stumps.

Yeah in terms of how hes played in this innings and how he played earlier in his career, he is moving towards the ball a fraction of the second prior to where he used to, but the bigger thing here is that he isn't waiting on the ball at all. Looking to push his presence onto the bowler. Isn't what I expect from Taylor 2015. I may still end up rueing it if he gets out soon but it has definitely pushed the momentum (at least momentarily) back in our favour.

we haven't seen a horizontal shot to the onside from him like that since his glorious hook off anderson at manchester 2008

even if this is just a cameo, very interesting change in attitude

The odd iffy shot, but generally this isn't the reckless batting of the first innings. They're just being fed a load **** and are punishing it.
