You know you can be happy for your team without poking fun at the opposition?Brilliant.
Are we allowed to sing the old football song. 30-4 and you ****ed it up.
Not even close? But what if it were? I really wouldn't know. the sensible thing to do is to check........Can someone explain why we didn't check for LBW having established that there was no inside edge on it?
Presumably because the umpire referred it. And he was only checking the bat-pad he didn't think it was out LBW. Presumably in theory England could have used one of their own appeals for the LBW under DRS?Can someone explain why we didn't check for LBW having established that there was no inside edge on it?
After the way the NZ fans hyped this series up are we not entitled to give some? You know you can be happy for your team without poking fun at the opposition?
I dunno, but it's a pretty common thing to do with run outs and stumpings, so it does make sense to do so with bat-pad and/or faint nicks. What the hell? When did umpire reviews come in?
Wasn't that Ponting in 09?Are you allowed to go to an lbw if it's not out caught? I thought they'd changed the rules on that after some sort of controversy where someone (my brain is saying Kallis for some reason) was given out caught behind, reviewed it and the review showed that he'd missed it but stayed out because it was umpire's call on the leg before.
Should have been Stokes unless there was an absolute miracle spell from one of the bowlers today. His innings yesterday put the win on the table as a possible result.I think I have a rough idea who will be man of the match.
AFAIK, the umpire went upstairs on his own account. It was probably high/umpire's call on height. Actually, did England review that or did the umpire refer it? How long have they been able to do that for?
We didn't have DRS in the 2009 AshesWasn't that Ponting in 09?
The umpire made the "TV" signal with his hands, I didn't think they normally did that for DRS reviews. Didn't know they could check their own decisions either - although they have been doing it on low catches (where they give a decision either way, and the Third umpire has to prove them wrong). I would guess they might not be allowed to do it for LBWs though. It was probably high/umpire's call on height. Actually, did England review that or did the umpire refer it? How long have they been able to do that for?
Well fair enough, but feel it's more a case of England coming roaring back off the mat and NZ not being able to absorb the blows. After the way the NZ fans hyped this series up are we not entitled to give some?
They should have won this match, had us down a few times and let us get back up.
It appears that the umpire reviewed it as England still seem to have 2 reviews left.It was probably high/umpire's call on height. Actually, did England review that or did the umpire refer it? How long have they been able to do that for?
