*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

Eyes not spreadsheets
If memory serves, Jayawardene, Sangakkara and Matthews were all in god mode for pretty much the entire series, and the pitches were extremely dry and slow so that Herath was able to play a part. But a huge element of it was England just still being shell shocked in the wake of the ashes and as a result their batting fell to bits as soon as they came under pressure.
It could just as easily been 1-0 the other way that series. Both games went to the last over.

A draw is proberly a fair result to be honest, its been a great test match so far.
What is the second test wicket tradionally played like, a result pitch?

Bloody well done to the English. After being behind for most of the match they dominated day 4 and are now in a dominant position. Runs on the board and a fifth day pitch. Anything can happen.

My opinion is he will set 360 in 75 overs if he can. I think our best chance of a win will actually be being bowled out this morning setting 330ish as McCullum will go for that. Given how conservative Cook normally is I think draw has to be a heavy favourite and i'd be surprised if there is a winner today.

My worst fears were realised when woke up to check the score.

I have a horrible 2008-2012 feeling 80 all out is around the corner to kick us in the nuts, but I hope we go for it.

Might have been worth Baz trolling the media saying we'll chase anything and bait Cook to either go against his conservatism or go to extreme conservatism and cop the wuss calls from the media and public, hopefully softening him up mentally for the second test.

Yes, a draw or an England win are the likely outcomes, but I'd love to see NZ knock over the tail cheaply and set up a tempting chase, just for the hell of it.

I'd love an exciting day of Test Cricket but I don't think Cook should risk defeat. Series is gone then. But agree with flibberty; us being bowled out for another 30-40 might not be a bad thing.

If England are going to win this game they need to bowl NZ out sharpish. There isn't much difference between trying to bowl a side out in 2 sessions or 2 and half, other than giving them 60 fewer runs to chase.

In any case it's just as likely that the tail will be seen off quickly this morning, which if nothing else would save us of this most tedious of discussions.

If Cook declares it will be half an hour later than anyone who habitually confuses what they'd like to see with what England should do

I came up with that troll during 30 seconds of sitting in the McDonalds drive through so hardly qualifies as thinking. It's a throwaway troll to maybe make Cook overthink. Has no bearing on what Baz really decides to do.

Also Latham would probably put on a brave face if asked directly so I hope McHesson assess how fresh he is and swap him and McCullum if needed. No matter what the batting plan is we need a strong start and there is no shame in being demoted for a breather after you've taken one for the team with the gloves. Plus having all our batsmen as fresh as possible is best for the team.
