Y'know this is a sodding excellent Test match. As Goughy said earlier, I'm always thinking the next hour is going to be the most important.

The second new ball did nothing for NZ on day 1. Might just go off the bat faster with a bit of luck

Big difference being the weather conditions are worse now. The pitch might actually be better though.

This has been a great attack by Stokes.

Cook able to do the same as Root on day 1 and just nudge the single and let him get on with it.

Looking pretty ominous now. We've been a bit all over the place with the new ball, it's not moving anyway and anything off line is going to the boundary.

Very well played at a key moment - one of many, tbf. Brought England just about ahead of the game, though there's still plenty of runs in the track. England at least need to be batting at stumps.

Not really bowled well in this Test overall tbh, NZ. Can't just rely on one or two gun spells.
Yes, this. We've bowled a few excellent spells, but in between we've bowled rubbish. Probably a result of playing too much white ball cricket recently.

If Stokes manages to bang on a quick 50 plus here, he will have had a mighty game and would give England an outside chance at a win tomorrow
It's fantastic how some CW posters just know the game and read it so well.
