Yes! Off to the County Ground today and weather is set fair. Hopefully it'll be a decent game with a positive result for the less mercenary of the teams.

Say it so often, but absurd the English boys have not played t20 this weekend. The Natwest Blast is the most important domestic competition in England as it props up every county, and really what harm would it do for the likes of Root and Bell to go have a hit out for their respective counties in front of their fans who would be delighted to see them?

Well. That went superbly. Game was pretty much lost after the first three overs. Abject performance, especially from Callum Taylor who was poor in the field (nutmeg misfield setting the tone in the first over) and mediocre with the bat. Not sure why Ryder wasn't playing, but Essex surely missed both his batting and bowling.

Nice to see that it didn't take long for the England Curse to catch up with Jason Roy.

His one day scores since making his England debut are 1 and 4.

injured.

Slightly perplexed Pettini is not getting a game with all the injuries.

Also as I alluded to on a previous page, Cook having a smash for Essex would do him no harm, pretty handy in this format a few years ago anyway.

I could see from the Essex team today that they were struggling for players, but surely it can't be so bad as to wish Ali C back in the team

He is not exactly Gayle or anything, but the top order was loaded with kids with very little experience and it showed today and Yesterday, Cook has got runs in t20 before, he'd have been welcomed with open arms at the moment.

Nice to see Steve Davies making runs across both formats- good player poorly treated by England. Would like to think he'd be back into contention for the shorter formats if he carries on this way

Carberry, Compton, Robson and Burns playing in the same game in Hampshire v Middlesex. Carberry's done well again. Compton playing on 32. Only Robson opening. Burns at 4. Someone said he opens in the shield.

Yeah he does, originally a #4 but got pushed up as a result of Queensland having a million middle order options and no half-decent openers. He's in consideration for both in the Australian team.

Serious effort from Kent last night to beat Hampshire, not sure about their kits though.
