It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

Alistair Cook's captaincy is taking the team backwards. Does he still merit a place in the team on batting alone?
No. Quite frankly it's ridiculous all the highly performing openers we've had recently like Robson, Trott and Carberry aren't playing instead of our greatest ever test century maker.

Re Cook's batting - the daggers will be out again if he fails in the tests v New Zealand tbh, and rightly so. Two tests more of failures in the Ashes and the sacking calls will increase. Now, I am not wishing for a failure. However, the point is that while Cook has made some runs in the Windies, he is still not in comfort zone.

Think I saw somewhere that Adam Lyth will be in the side for the New Zealand series, which if correct means that IIRC Cook will have had more opening partners in the last 12 months than Strauss had during his entire England career.

Robson and Carberry have half-decent cases to be made to still be playing tbf.

Whatever it takes!!!
Everyone is forgetting Compton.:sadwalk:

Could not get along with the clique.. His fault :p

On the question of the autobiography, didn't KP and Swann have to play together after Swann wrote pretty nasty stuff about KP? Why is everything different for Captain Cook? As one of the guys has written in The Telegraph, it is the obvious double standards that is bewildering in this whole fiasco.

Robson couldn't score runs against India and Sri Lanka. He'd get eaten alive by NZ/Australia.
Neither could cook for awhile there.

I agree that cook merits more chances given his history but it does raise an eyebrow when his partners aren't given the chance.

I still find that hilarious. Scores two hundreds on the bounce, and is then dropped after 3 bad tests against one of the top bowling attacks in the world (even if it wasn't as highly regarded as it is now back in 2013).

IIRC part of that was down to KP getting injured and Root and Bairstow having strong series where Compton failed.

Not sure why they'd go to Carberry over him when there was a vacancy for the Aussie Ashes though......

Nah, Bairstow managed just one 50 in 4 innings against NZ - if there was anyone who should've been dropped to make way for KP then it should've be Bairstow. Instead the ECB tried to have their cake and eat it too by promoting a green boy to open against Australia. It had cluster-**** written all over it right from the start.

But yeah if it is true, as petulant as the whole thing is, I'd much rather keep Cook.
Yeah, keep the guy who threatens to walk out on you if you select a player. It's not about who would you rather have in the team, but how do you tolerate such behaviour. If he actually threatened to walk out, he should have been kicked out on his bum. That's why Strauss is so bad for the job. He is too close to Cook and some others to see things objectively.

No, I agree tbf, ultimatums from players shouldn't be tolerated. KP fell on his sword for one in 09 after all.

Just hypothetically if I can only have one of the two in the team, it would be Cook every day of the week.

Beyond that there's lot of political nonsense obviously.
