That's true. he can come in at number 3 on difficult wickets but on flat ones probably not.Imran at 7 is a bad option for ODI. Even in Pakistan's all-time ODI XI, I'll have him at no. 3.
Even for a Pak XI, no place for Imran at No. 3 when players like Miandad are in the team. That's true. he can come in at number 3 on difficult wickets but on flat ones probably not.
Although for his time I am not sure if his SR is ok?
Miandad is more suited to no. 4. Inzy can play at 5.Even for a Pak XI, no place for Imran at No. 3 when players like Miandad are in the team.
Agree, Miandad is more suited to No. 4; imo Izaz would be the best fit at No. 3. He was pretty aggressive and quick between the wickets; perfect qualities for a No. 3. Outside SC, Inzy is good at No. 3.Miandad is more suited to no. 4. Inzy can play at 5.
However, outside SC I'll have Inzy at no. 3 and Imran at 5.
As far as I remember, Sohail & Anwar were the best opening pair for Pak, so would have Sohail opening with Anwar, followed by Izaz, Inzy, Javed, Razzaq......Pakistan ODI XI
Ijaz Ahmed
Saeed Anwar
Imran Khan * (Inzy outside SC)
Javed Miandad
Inzamam-ul Haq (Imran outside SC)
Abdul Razzaq
Shahid Afridi
Moin Khan +
Wasim Akram
Saqlain Mushtaq
Waqar Younis
Not having Zaheer Abbas in a Pakistan ODI side is just plain odd.As far as I remember, Sohail & Anwar were the best opening pair for Pak, so would have Sohail opening with Anwar, followed by Izaz, Inzy, Javed, Razzaq......
Oops ya, I completely forgot Abbas for a moment thereNot having Zaheer Abbas in a Pakistan ODI side is just plain odd.
1. Saeed Anwar
2. Inzaman Ul Haq
3. MoYo
4. Javed Miandad
5. Zaheer Abbas
6. Imran Khan
7. Shahid Afridi/ Abdul Razzaq
8. Moin Khan
9. Wasim Akram
10. Saqlain Mushtaq
11. Waqar Younis
Inzy opening is a bit funky but it's the way to fit everyone in.
6-8 interchangeable depending on match state.
Yeh cool, don't see much Pakistani cricket so I didn't realise that Afridi has opened as much as he has.Afridi opening obvious choice.
Inzy as opener? Who is MoYo?Not having Zaheer Abbas in a Pakistan ODI side is just plain odd.

Yes, but see my more recent post with a revised line up.Inzy as opener? Who is MoYo?
Inzy is way down the order for his class.Saeed Anwar
Shahid Afridi
Zaheer Abbas
Javed Miandad
Mohammad Yousuf
Inzamam-ul-Haq
Imran Khan *
Moin Khan +
Wasim Akram
Saqlain Mushtaq
Waqar Younis
Afridi opening obvious choice.
Hard to get this line up right. For me, Abbas and Miandad are certainties, but MoYo and Inzy need spots too.Inzy is way down the order for his class.
Superb line-up! Just one change for me...MoYo, the kind of player that he is (innings builder) not suited to play at No. 6. There you need someone like Razzaq, who can score quick runs, and finish strong, irrespective of the side batting first, or chasing. He can play all kinds of role, plus also provides a good bowling option.Yeh cool, don't see much Pakistani cricket so I didn't realise that Afridi has opened as much as he has.
1. Saeed Anwar
2. Shahid Afridi

The batting order can be adjusted in a number of ways, but gotta say that is an insanely strong combo. So much solidity in the top seven, plus the firepower of Afridi. Bats to 9. Well led by Imran. Three great quicks in Imran, Wasim and Waqar, and two very good ODI spinners in Afridi and Saqlain.
This would go close to being the strongest ODI ATG combo of any nation imo.
