Good ball from nowhere. In a very handy position overnight. Should be looking for 500+ from here and then see if they have any bottle for the fight.

70% England's day I would say, mitigated by the fact that this has turned into something close to a road. Stokes looked really good out there and if he hangs around tomorrow we could be chasing 500 plus.

I thought we were outstanding in the morning, average in the afternoon and woeful in the evening. Possible fitness issues there, I hope Phil gets to grips with that. The seamers were generally pretty good apart from a crazy period with the 2nd new ball where they bowled absolute dross. Benn was absolutely disgraceful and fed England short wide cut balls all day. As I've been saying all week, he shouldn't be near any West Indies side.

It's very important that Roach and Taylor start well tomorrow morning and limit England to 450ish, which isn't all that daunting on this pitch. If England get away and score 500-600 we could be in trouble as weight of runs will tell.

West Indies lose a lot of test matches, but so often in every recent loss they have had the momentum and squandered it. The first session was very good cricket, the second session?

credit is due to Root and Bell, but the game was crying out for more of a contribution from Benn and sadly for the West Indies he stunk the place out, Samuels was a waste of time as well.

Benn really is playing for his career now, if he continues this level of rubbish over the next 4 days and plays the next test, questions have to be asked about Simmons. Lets not forget for all the good he did with Ireland, what really hurt them in the World Cup was picking the wrong bowlers and going for the very conservative options such as Thompson.

And yeah said it a million times, the West Indies need to picking 5 front line bowlers with Holder at seven, even ignoring how ****e Benn was, 4 frontline bowlers is not enough especially when you remember how young the test career of Holder is, Roach just back from injury and how placid these pitches are.

you need a better spinner unless benn picks up his game

benn has a terrible attitude, is a rather huge liability in the field, generally seems to not give a frick, and just to top it off gets less turn than a drag strip and has been serving up filth

Was m point about Giles when people compared them. Giles didn't bowl filth, could bat and had solid hands. Benn is 1 dimensional and it's poor dimension.
