Nah, there were a few players going over the top on being a dick but if they're playing well I don't mind. Raddin was insufferable but man, that catch off ross taylor was something else.

Nah you are talking ****, If any player went over the top then the umpires would have stepped in and they would have been sanctioned, you might not have liked some of the players but then you could be the dick and not them, just saying.

Mate, I don't mind a bit of lip but send-offs should not be a part of anything, and I've seen haddin sending off guptill and elliot. You already got the guy out, no need to be a dick about it.

Australia played the match in the right spirit and their behaviour was exemplary....
Somewhat disagree with the second half of your sentence.

Australia are regarded by many commentators as one of the three teams that take sledging to the limit and sometimes over. Last night's game seemed to be played in a much better spirit than Aussie games I've watched over the last year, but (1) Aussie were on top for most of the game which took away the edge of some of the tension, and (2) Haddin.

I think any reference to on field behaviour would be sour grapes and take away the graciousness of being a good loser. Australia played the match in the right spirit and their behaviour was exemplary, I know that there will be a few disgruntled posters who find it difficult to deal with Australia winning their 5th WC and as usual will look to discredit them by using unsubstantiated or unmeasurable accusations.
Sigh. Sure, I'm willing to accept that this is sour grapes. Also willing to look at the bigger picture. Case in point: Michael Clarke gets a (well deserved) clapping off when he gets dismissed, while Vettori (supposedly a long-respected opponent) who is also most likely playing his last game gets nothing more than filthy look from Johnson. Purely from a cricket-viewer's perspective, added up these things leave a bad taste in the mouth.

Eh, to be fair, it's not like vettori's retirement was known, and fast bowlers should be dicks. I feel like a filthy look is the least you could give as a fast bowler.

Haddin is quite open about it tbf. Reading this I thought I might be reading the The Onion it's so ridiculous:

"They were that nice to us in New Zealand and we were that uncomfortable," Haddin told Triple M in Sydney.

"I said in the team meeting: 'I can't stand for this anymore, we're going at them as hard as we can.'

"It was that uncomfortable. All they were was that nice to us for seven days.

"I said, 'I'm not playing cricket like this. If we get another crack at these guys in the final I'm letting everything [out].'"

New Zealand's Martin Guptill, Grant Elliott and Dan Vettori each received hefty send-offs, with Haddin involved in confrontations with Guptill and Elliott.

Retirement known to the crowd, perhaps not, I'm not expecting many of them read the press when it comes to details of the NZ side. Retirement known to most of the Aussie team, yes. Vettori plays with or against most of these guys in BBL and IPL. They know he's back from injury for one last campaign.

Sledging is part of the game. You can say whatever you want in between deliveries as long as the man is on the field and able to respond with his bat or mouth. Send offs, however, are straight up weak. Once you dismiss a guy you've already beaten him fair and square so he ceases to be part of the field of play.

hahahaha holy ****, I must admit that being nice to the Aussies has always crossed my mind as a way to get into their heads, far more than actual sledging.

I cant understand how people are missing the elephant in the room, are people to afraid to face reality here.

Forget what a drunk Haddin had to say about sledging why has no one been outraged by this amazing relevation:
"I've got James Faulkner who's got his clothes off but don't tell everyone."

James Faulkner has no clothes on and everyone is worried about sledging, what is the world coming to.
