he wasn't really a memorable innings player (oddly, in contrast to his test batting), he was just completely and totally professional (if slow at times). he'd go in, get fifty, and get out for the slog overs. and he'd do it again. and again. and again. he was pretty boring in that sense tbh, but that sort of cricket wins you a lot of games.Yeah, a couple years ago I think it'd have been comfortably Vettori but Sangakkara just seemed to get better at batting over time.
Isn't like Clarke has had a poor ODI career though at times it felt like he was a pretty poor ODI batsman. Probably one of the more underrated ODI players of all time. Jayawardene definitely the least of the four in this form of the game.
this innings has been a bit more flamboyant by those standards, much closer to the innings he played in the last few years of his career when he let his attacking instincts loose again.
edit: this obviously is talking about the bulk of career, not the early part when he was ridiculously good. that's probably why his career feels oddly underwhelming tbh.
