Yeah, a couple years ago I think it'd have been comfortably Vettori but Sangakkara just seemed to get better at batting over time.

Isn't like Clarke has had a poor ODI career though at times it felt like he was a pretty poor ODI batsman. Probably one of the more underrated ODI players of all time. Jayawardene definitely the least of the four in this form of the game.
he wasn't really a memorable innings player (oddly, in contrast to his test batting), he was just completely and totally professional (if slow at times). he'd go in, get fifty, and get out for the slog overs. and he'd do it again. and again. and again. he was pretty boring in that sense tbh, but that sort of cricket wins you a lot of games.

this innings has been a bit more flamboyant by those standards, much closer to the innings he played in the last few years of his career when he let his attacking instincts loose again.

edit: this obviously is talking about the bulk of career, not the early part when he was ridiculously good. that's probably why his career feels oddly underwhelming tbh.

Well played Australia, just far too good on the day. Best two sides made the final and one of them dominated on the big occasion.

Good game Australia, the bowling was amazing and you fully deserved the win. Would've backed us over any other team in the final. We've got a great core of players to build around and the type of cricket we're playing is exciting. Hopefully this will be a watershed tournament and we'll continue to see massive crowds for cricket in New Zealand.

Gotta say I feel sorry for Kyle Mills - had heaps of injuries and hardly got to play in previous WCs then didn't get a game this time. Will he ever play for a last time? Will Nathan McCullum. Thanks for the memories and especially to Danny V.

Hope Elliott stays on for a while. Unfortunately Ronchi didn't do anything with the bat this wc watling will keep pushing him

Yeah but at the same time, if it's about WC players, he deserves to be in the argument. Crazy how he seemed to raise his game for big games in the WC despite being mediocre otherwise. Produced the goods several times in big knockouts.
