The very first impact -- the "front" of the spherical ball -- would've been outside the line. I don't really like HawkEye umpire's call decisions when it comes to actually hitting the stumps because if it's clipping then you're out, but impact zones are contrived in the first place and first part of the ball to hit the pad (assuming the bad is relatively straight on) will be the middle part, so I'm happy enough for that to be umpire's call.
