It's already the best World Cup ever, principally because the smaller countries have performed well, and because it's here. Haters can suck it.

'96 was the best by far, just for that expression on Warne's face after Arjuna hooked him for six.

Must admit I've never heard of Michael Leask - is he a good selection, does anyone know?

Leask's playing? Gun.

He's very much a Bradburn Agribusiness type of player. Scottish Devcich without the haterz. Smacked England around last year, the guy can give the ball a fair whack, and he bowls some jammy, darty off-spin and fields pretty well IIRC. More a synergistic limited overs hunk of icing than anything else, really.

EDIT:
Best known for this innings: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/684679.html

Oh man, looks like they've picking him as a bowler. That's, erm, not going to end well at all.

Nah, you can't have a "best ever" World Cup where teams refuse to play in one of the host nations for fear of not getting out alive.

The selection for this team is weird. Genuinely "let's give everybody a go" stuff. Burgey to rage that even the park U/12s don't do that these days.

Man, they've gotta get 20 overs out of Mommsen, Leask and, umm, MacLeod...

400 a genuine possibility here, and that's not a "lol boundaries" call.

Pussies. The LTTE never targeted foreigners.. they stopped fighting when the cricket was on anyway.

I recall people saying the same sort of thing on this site before Sri Lanka's last tour of Pakistan.

Hooray for Thiri.

Feel like he's gotten all the runs he was gonna get in this tournament already.. I expect SL to be 1 down by the first 5 overs in the knockouts.

Except no such thing happened in SL and other teams toured with no issues. It's all hindsight I realize but I don't think it's a similar comparison when you consider that sport was outlawed by the Taliban.

Scotland has done well so far.. if they get a couple here SL will be in trouble. I don't think SL can defend 250.

Eep. If the bowling depth is as startlingly poor as posts above indicate, Davey can't afford to be going at 10s.

Look, given it's a really sensitive topic and I don't really want to jam up a good match/ WC thread with talk about this issue, it's probably best we agree to disagree and just enjoy the cricket. :)
