Joking aside, I still think the Afghan's best chance was bowling first, hoping for a few early wicket & then knowing exactly what they needed to chase..
Considering how good the conditions are for batting I can see why they didn't do that. Conceding 350+ isn't ever fun.

So how comfortable are the NZ fans going in with Milne as the third seamer in the knockouts?

With 4 bowlers averaging under 15 I don't think it really matters for us right now.

But yeah it's definitely on all of our minds.

Neither is being bowled out for 120 and having it chased down within 15-20 overs, which isn't looking unlikely from here.

IDK, I always feel a minnows best chance is bowling first, hoping for a few wickets & then chasing, obvs this isn't set in stone.

what's your ideal format?

i've been impressed with the associates overall. the best four teams were always going to blow them away but they've competed and even beaten the rest.
The top 6 ranked sides and the rest play for the other 4 spots.

he's the worlds fastest gavin larsen and before the tournament was good at getting rid of the oppo's best player and any death hack sloggers so this is worrying. his role is hurry them up and bowl at the death.

the alternatives are a world class medium pacer who can't bowl at the death and an expensive left arm strike bowler. it's a tough decision.

Eh, he'll pick up a bagful soon enough. His career economy rate is bang on five which is pretty good. He plays a part in this team succes even if it doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

My ideal format is 10 teams, everyone playing each-other once, no quarter bollocks, but instead the top 4 going straight through to the semis. So much like '92 but with 10 teams instead of 8.

you mean just the top eight come to the cup or group stage -> super eight -> knock outs?

can't agree with the former. the west indies and pakistan haven't proven themselves much better than 9-12.
Whatever one they had in 07. Group stages, top teams, semi's and then final.
