You do see Akmal's potential but probably haven't seen much of Maqsood to comment. Also if 2 batsmen can be developed to be world class that is pretty good for a side.

And as contra (and myself) said earlier that temperament is another matter so the potential might never be utilized.

And which of England's batsman show you great promise? I would be interested in knowing. I haven't followed them too much.
Assuming we're talking white ball cricket; I think Root, Hales, Ali, Buttler & Morgan all have at least as much natural talent as current Pakistani batsmen....what am I missing?

That's because talent isn't everything (Rohit Sharma being the biggest example from India), why would I want to swap players who are currently inferior but have the potential to become a lot better? Pakistani bats need to be more consistent, and if they worked on things like batting temperament, match situation awareness, running between wickets and strike rotation they can produce the kind of results India currently are. West Indies are in the same boat and their batsmen need to work on the same set of skills. It's a little unfortunate that guys like Robin and Suresh Raina can hire personal coaches by paying money to work on their techniques and games while Pak players make enough to get by a reasonable living.

.
But when assessing talent one needs to look at the whole picture, & temperament, concentration & overall mental strength is very much part of the package.

That's why when the likes of Kane Williamson was earmarked from a young age, it wasn't just because he played nice cover drives off the back foot, it's because the lad displayed a maturity, a calmness & a mental strength that belied his age.

I repeat, If we're exclusively talking raw talent alone in terms of hitting a cricket ball, then lets include Bangladesh as well as many other teams.

Agree, Afridi is still a massive talent on that barometer.

Without wishing to completely high-jack this match thread.. There's been many occasions over the years when we've all looked at Pakistan players and thought "holy ***, they have some incredibly natural talent compared to other sides going around", but I just don't believe that's the case right atm.

No you didn't, Contra did. He made the point that in terms of talent Pakistan batsmen are pretty much as talented as India's. And that just isn't the case...
