absolutely. we played about two matches per year and settled into a culture of losing that took a 70s and 80s world beating side to shake off, and it still comes back occassionally with the little kiwi battler 4th is like 1st attitude that sneaks in when we're losing again.

Your argument was more valid 5-10 years ago.. Bangla is definitely getting better in Test cricket.. they had 2 draws vs SL last year. Their batting is pretty strong in favorable conditions now. Bowling just needs a couple of stars.

Considering how solid this chase was, and how ****ty England's bowlers have been, Eng would need to get 350+ to feel safe if they're batting first.

they've got the best balanced allrounder in the world who happens to be a bowling star, a near enough world class opener, a promising young batsman and a host of good support batsmen, norounders and tweakers.
and they still manage to almost lose to scotland after 15 years of developing good enough players and games against strong oppo.

You are right it is at Adelaide, its an interesting one, I kinda feel like Bangladesh are like an inferior version of India in the sense that their bats are the attraction (although a lot less consistent) and so on a flat pitch (as we saw today) they might back themselves to outgun the opposition team in a high run scoring game. Whereas if there is help for the seamers I can see Bangladesh being bowled out for a cheap score. Apparently there is a bit of rain foretasted for that game as well so it will be an interesting one to follow.

What almost? That was a relatively comfortably win in anyone's language, even without bowling at their best & batting without a top order batsmen. They won with 11 balls to spare ffs.

Bangladesh is improving as a side. So your arguments mean tiddly squat. By the same logic, New Zealand should not have test status any more as they performed so poorly in Bangladesh? Rubel is bowling well, there are people like Taskin coming who can bowl at 140 which was not seen 5 years back. Their batsman are doing better than before. Five years ago, even on such a flat wicket, you wouldn't expect Bangladesh to chase down 417 or so. If Bangladesh doesn't deserve backing, there is no case to back nations like Ireland either. I don't understand this hatred some people seem to have about Bangladesh right now, when they are actually improving.

This makes no sense at all, WI lost to Ireland, Zim gave SA a scare and England have regularly lost to associates in recent times, they even lost to Bangladesh in the previous WC. As far as limited overs is concerned, Bangladesh have done reasonably well relative to teams like England and WI who should have done a lot better than they actually have.
As far as test cricket performances are concerned I can agree that Bangladesh have been given a long leash.

west indies getting weaker isn't an argument for bangladesh getting better. bangladesh would also kill for chanders, little bravo, roach, taylor, narine etc.

Bangladesh's limited overs performance do not show that they should be given less chances, tests are a different argument altogether. I don't see why Ireland have to be given chances at the expense of Bangladesh.
