Congrats Sri Lanka..........decent total made to look piss easy.

TBH, this hurts more than the losses to Aus or NZ.
yeah the absolute lack of bowling penetration was quite shocking. I mean Sanga is an ATG but you have to back yourself to get through Thirimanne.

Would have thought that a closer contest, good to see Thirimanne score some runs though and not just Sanga/Dilshan/Mahela.

Going to be so tough when they all leave, probably at the same time.

I'm glad I chose to sleep through that - we'll be back to using the old football supporters mantra soon "Who cares who we lose to so long as we beat the Jocks" .......................................

lol England and lol Anderson, absolutely pathetic ODI WC record for someone who actually has a fair bit of skill with the ball.

So it just comes down to Bangladesh v England then as a knockout almost (assuming Bdesh don't slip against any of the other associates).

They're just going to bully Bangladesh now and do just about enough to make the quarters.Very predictable scenario imo.

Dilshan will play on a year or so longer, he even said he's not ruling out the 2019 WC if the team still needs him and he's playing well, Sanga obviously a huge loss, Mahela as well to a lesser extent, but it will at least allow the youngsters to come in and take up their natural positions in the team rather than picking up the scrappy places around the legends and we might get a better chance to see the best of them, Chandimal in particular is a guy who will benefit IMO.

We'd be up there with the favourites if this team had the bowling and particularly some decent fielding, top 3 is functioning rather well you'd have to say, that's twice Thirimanne has top scored for us now this WC, great effort from a young opener playing his first WC in pretty alien conditions

Fell asleep after the second over, woke up and Zimbabwe were batting. For some reason I just assumed we had won.

I think the complete abjectness of England is really a good example of why eight teams qualifying for the next round is just too much. If England snuck home against Bangladesh, qualified for the quarters and then, by a massive fluke, won the following three games.. do we really think it's a deserving way to win a World Cup? England should be eliminated already. The fact that their remaining games aren't dead rubbers is actually a bad thing as much as it's a good thing.
