Aus have a lot of stale bread behind the first three pacers tbh and Anderson and Broad are good bowlers quite capable of destroying good batting line ups. Besides, Cummins has his poor moments.

Australia's big advantage are the two Mitchells'.
Nope

Oz have the deepest fast bowling depth of any team in the world by a pretty big margin

so assuming forkers faulkner is fit for aus' next game

finch
warner
smith
clarke
bailey/watson
maxwell
faulkner
haddin
johnson
starc
cummins

i still dont really like this team but it's the best they can do unless maxwell breaks an arm and we call in lyon
if faulkner is fit will replace watson. because marsh performed so well in bowling, he will be continued, as all games likely in aussie conditions.

johnson might get a rotation, as he got tonked, hazlewood get some match time.

ok buddy

regardless of this massive margin, they still have to use the likes of mitchell marsh and glenn maxwell to complete their 50. that's far from ideal. they have the frontline bowlers to hide it luckily.

I took Flem to mean the parts of the attack beyond the big 3, so Watson/Maxwell/Marsh, not the Haze/Harris/etc depth

and i'd agree with flem

halba who do you think will win the world cup? or will there be no winner at all because all the teams are crap and/or overrated?

I liked how we choked towards the end but still take away the 2 points so AUS is still the hot favourite to win the WC. Might not go so well if BMac was healthy and gets to 70-80 and win by lots of wickets, then the NZ media hype them up like gods, heck, the TV 3 reporter at 6.05pm (NZ 3/79) was like "NZ going very well and by the time I return for the sport news, it might be all over" Arrogant media representatives.

We use to lose games like this, i.e. 2003 WC Bond magic 6/23 then our middle over bowlers let AUS score another 120, and our batting collapsed to lose by 100; and in mid 2005 Hamish Marshall anchoring the innings, about 10 runs from victory with 7 down, then McGrath bowled 3 batsmen including Marshall. This one is not pretty but at least we got over our own demons. I collapsed and conceded we were going to lose when Southee got bowled, but my wife had faith in Boult, and BatGod finished it off with a calm fist pump.

That six better be on youtube. It doesn't get much better than Big Daddy Cake smashing the best ODI team in the world back over their heads to win the game.

Faulkner is arguably one of the 5 best odi players in the world right now

If f they brought him in to replace Watto, then you'd need 20 from Marsh/Maxwell/Forkers

Other teams would dream of that lineup

Anyway, ****ty batting lost this game for Oz not the bowlers

*Big Daddy Cake bopping Mohammad Shami (in disguise as Pat Cummins) over long on to win the game.

Whether this is true or not, it wasn't his point. It doesn't matter how good Hazelwood is if Mitch Marsh and Glenn Maxwell are the ones out there bowling the overs. He meant depth in the eleven -- which is stacked with batting -- rather than bench strength.

other teams that aren't in the hunt for the world cup. i'd also say you have too much icing but then with the way watto is playing it's better than nothing.

watto isn't getting dropped anyway. it should have happened years ago but hasn't. forkers will replace someone else like marsh probably.

Faulkner is a quality white ball bowler for sure. Watson is clearly the better bat

What would your batting order be...

Finch
Warner
Smith
Clarke
Maxwell
Marsh
Faulkner

Something like that...question mark

Yeah when you list it like that Hurricane it looks so bad. Lots of class in there but the balance is all wrong. Extra sugary icing in at #5 is pretty much asking for Southee, Boult, Steyn, Morkel etc to do the honours.

If anything I'd bring in the Bailey cake for Twatto and elevate TPC or Clock to #3. Watto's bowling has been useless for a while anyway.

Thing is we just need one of the icing to stick around with the cake, and more often than not one of them is sticky enough.

Am I doing this analogy right?
