Don't get me wrong, I'd love them to get to the point where they obtain full status, but I suspect if they do they will be sharing the UAE facilities with Pakistan for the indefinite future, sadly.
yeah certainly for at least 10 years or so.

I'm somewhat optimistic about peace in Afghanistan in the long term. About 3000 years of history disagrees with me, but whatever.

So basically, Afghanistan's chances rest with... the players they have left. Who knew?

Hahahaha. I couldn't care less about profit.

The fact is that there are limited resources for development, so why waste what there is on countries that have done nothing with it? I'm not arguing against associates, or associates being at the World Cup - I think 10 teams next time is idiotic. I am saying that the UAE, Scotland and the Netherlands have had many opportunities and that other countries with better chances of success long term should be ahead of them in the queue.
I get your point; I just wouldn't term funding these countries a 'waste'. Maybe provide them with less money and opportunities if they aren't performing. since resources are limited, but don't cut them out completely.

Ideally all Associates would receive a base level of support, followed with some incentive-based bonuses. I believe it's already like that, but not sure.

After all the talk about how slow Haq's bowling was against England it was pretty sobering when the next night I was struggling to get bat on ball against the Merlin bowling machine at the same pace.

Just saw the highlights of Scotland's innings. Dawlat bowled some real jaffas today, didn't he? Afgh look a good catching team, but so awful at ground fielding. Sand outfields will do that to you though. And Majid Haq such a jammy batsman.
