Sadly I missed the middle period, but a great game. A top result for the tournament too -- UAE show they can compete, and Ireland stay in the hunt for a quarter final spot.

Well that was ****ing tense. Great game. Not sure we deserved the win but we'll take it.

UAE really had the chance to amp up the pressure on Wilson when he just came in (with having Balbirnie at the other end who is inexperienced) but were poor in the field at the time and let him get away with a risk free first 50 and set a platform for the team.

I guess that's the difference between being amateurs and professionals. They just didn't have the fitness to really keep fielding well on a large outfield. Reminiscent of amateur league cricket and fielding getting increasingly tired and ragged over an innings.

Everyone must thank the Irish bowlers for making this a close contest.

Ireland are unlikely to make it to the next round with this bowling line-up and if they manage to then its just the icing that is needed for their opponents, Ireland will donate the cake to them.

This takes the cake for best game so far.

UAE stiff to lose again but as everyone is saying it shows IRE have some depth to their game.

Best match of the World Cup so far; arguably one of the best televised Associate matches. Great for the game.

Excellent crowd too; small but vocal, great atmosphere.

Amjad Javed, WAG. Unlucky to miss out on Joyce and Wilson's wickets. Bowled wonderfully. Even had a slip in with 3 needed off 7. Scored very useful runs, took an excellent catch. A veteran of the team, he's been playing for UAE as long as I can remember, and today he showed why. The side were crumbling under pressure when KOB was out there, and he pulled them back. Fantastic performance.

Wilson batted brilliantly too. Such a drop in quality from Wilson and KOB with their eye in vs Mooney (awful innings btw) and Cusack.

Dockrell held his nerve there in the end, risky shots but pulled off the win.

Can't help feeling if UAE fielded better this was their game. Then again, can't expect too much from a team full of bankers and office workers. They did their best, and have been very good for this whole tournament. They lack the professionalism of the other associates, but haven't disgraced themselves.

Excellent result. I wanted Ireland to win, but was rooting for UAE towards the end there. But an Irish win is good. Sets things up well for an Associate to qualify for the quarters.

Now that's the kind of match this world cup needed. Great that it's two associates. BleedBlue and Matthew Hayden can suck a fat one.

Well, it was a close match and a good match from a cricketing perspective but from Ireland's POV, this means their NRR isn't that high (and will get lower if/when they lose). They probably need two more wins now - which is going to be very difficult.

According to ICC general manager Dave Richardson, the 2019 world cup must be played between evenly matched teams, so presumably the UAE and Ireland have already qualified. Unless there's some other motive.
