I get your basic sentiments but this is sport, in almost all cases it should be above politics. As you say it is hardly fair to hold the players accountable for their governments past or current actions.

Yea, there are really atrocious practices going on, especially in the construction sector. The conditions of workers are despicable and many of them are forced to stay there against their will (their passports are confiscated, etc). Not about politics, but I just find it hard to root for a country with that going on. Obviously, I am not blaming the players for this. But in many cases, regimes (more so in Zimbabwe) use sports to justify and propagandize (for lack of a better word) their own existance.
