Yea for Australia it makes more sense to think of dropping him cos there's Clarke, but for someone who's proven himself over an extended period of time his place shouldn't really be in question.Errr, check Bailey's record in the last 12 months. No one was ****ting on him when he was scoring hundreds for fun in 2013
Oooh sloppy from Irfan.
Rahane >>> Dhawan IDGAF what the stats say.
I think both of you are still dreaming about that greentop ton vs Eng. That was a Test this is ODI cricket. Doesn't matter if Rahane is technically better or whatever. He just hasn't performed in ODIs that well.. even in 2014-15 it's 33 @ 79.You're doing your standard thing where you look at a team as if for the first time and make judgments purely based on players records without taking any further consideration of pretty basic things like player development, current form, conditions, team composition, available replacements etc etc.
The difference is that Rahane almost always gets himself out. Moeen and him have the same annoying problem but you can tell that if they figure things out they'll be a lot more productive. Definitely worth persisting with him long term.I think both of you are still dreaming about that greentop ton vs Eng. That was a Test this is ODI cricket. Not saying he should be dropped, but if Rohit had a similar stretch people would be crying out for him to get dropped I'm sure.
Yes it does. Form is temporary, class is permanent.Doesn't matter if Rahane is technically better or whatever.
Have you watched Rahane play overall in the last two months or the warm ups in the last ten days?I think both of you are still dreaming about that greentop ton vs Eng. a) 33 @79 is better than most Indian batsmen have managed in OceaniaI think both of you are still dreaming about that greentop ton vs Eng. That was a Test this is ODI cricket. ODIs != TestsRahane has also scored runs when the team needs them - ie conditions where everyone else struggles.
Rahane >>>> Dhawan.
You misunderstand - I'm not saying he should be dropped. I'm saying he's coasting on his Test brilliance. Dhawan or Rohit would not have that leeway. Shouldn't equate Test performances with definite ODI adaptation.a) 33 @79 is better than most Indian batsmen have managed in Oceania
b) Can you think of anyone else likely to perform in Aus and NZ? Just because you say that India = plethora of good batsmen doesn't make it true.
He's flawed but it's plain as day Rahane will be an awesome ODI batsman once he gets certain aspects of his game sorted out (ie) he sometimes attacks when he shouldn't... which shouldn't take long. You don't drop a guy like that.I think both of you are still dreaming about that greentop ton vs Eng. That was a Test this is ODI cricket. Doesn't matter if Rahane is technically better or whatever. Rohit and Dhawan are far more established ODI batsmen. Rahane only recently became a proper regular in the ODI side.You misunderstand - I'm not saying he should be dropped. I'm saying he's coasting on his Test brilliance. Dhawan or Rohit would not have that leeway. Shouldn't equate Test performances with definite ODI adaptation.
ODIs != Tests
He's not 'coasting' on past performances. He looks the real deal. Thats why they keep picking him. Selectors using their eyes and not statsguru.You misunderstand - I'm not saying he should be dropped. I'm saying he's coasting on his Test brilliance. Dhawan or Rohit would not have that leeway. Shouldn't equate Test performances with definite ODI adaptation.
He's not coasting on his Test brilliance, he's coasting on being a ****ing talented batsman, which the selectors are clearly using their eyes and some of his performances to see.You misunderstand - I'm not saying he should be dropped. I'm saying he's coasting on his Test brilliance. Dhawan or Rohit would not have that leeway. Shouldn't equate Test performances with definite ODI adaptation.
But he hasn't had any leeway. He's been in and out of the team like a virgin ****ing a pornstar.You misunderstand - I'm not saying he should be dropped. I'm saying he's coasting on his Test brilliance. Dhawan or Rohit would not have that leeway. Shouldn't equate Test performances with definite ODI adaptation.
IDK, I like Pujara.viriya said:Why wasn't Pujara given more than 5 matches to prove himself?
