Pretty sure he had the record for the fastest 50 for a New Zealander until McMillian broke it.

Yeah, I forgot how devastating Smith could be. He did get that incredible run a ball 170 odd against India in 1990. He had a terrific eye & a lot of power.

And there I was looking really hard for a thread. That's great, but my idea would be one of CW memes like the Guptil rain thing. Sadly you can't really do that if the people in the threads know they're part of a drinking game though, so it was a crap idea.

His test best of 170-odd against India was apparently a rapid one. Indian fans from that era recall it pretty well.

It must be said, this is some very tame bowling. You could only imagine the problems Southee and Boult be causing in these conditions.
