Then what should we discuss?I think some of you fellows are looking for something to worry about. Just relax - with the current format it's going to be a very hit and miss tournament. Even if a team plays real well throughout they still might lose that crucial wicket in a tight game or concede that six or just come up against another team having a blinder. The other teams have weaknesses too. NZ are very much one of the favourites imo, but ultimately that counts for very little.
I hear you, but with the nature of how flat the wickets are it's bloody hard to take poles sometimes. It didn't swing in Napier and when that happens, setting fields and being positively defensive is a decent tactic. I have no issues with the fact if it swings and there's something in the deck, we have the guys to take charge of it.They'll get some practice vs SA so that should be ok, I'm more concerned about them getting injured by Steyn and co.
They did get some good workout from Irfan so it's not like they haven't faced any single good fast delivery.
I'm concerned with the lack of early wickets too, the last time an early wicket was taken was Southee taking down the SL leftie in one of the early games of the series? Mills took a couple but he's probably not in the knock out games, or is he? If our batsmen struggle and put together an average total, this strangling game is going to backfire, and this era of NZ bowling team should be better than that.
Totally fair point. Discussion is all good. It just seems silly to me that with the evidence pointing to this NZ side being an excellent one, the result is an obsession with its few remaining flaws. Then what should we discuss?
Bastard. The Jamshed account isn't actually Jamshed ftr. Even says it's a parody in the description.
Oh yeah I know. Was pretty disappointed when I originally found out.The Jamshed account isn't actually Jamshed ftr. Even says it's a parody in the description.
Lol and dancing like the SL and Indian crowds? I think the overall sentiment is the supporters are quite happy and the media is talking the team up, eg Kane's God and Ross is Zeus, which is fine but I am just one of those people that are a little wary of the hype jinxing our players and likes to look at areas the team can improve on to WIN the cup, which is really really hard that's why I am a worrier if the bar is set so high kinda like in high school the kiwi kids are pumped after scoring 60% in math and the Asian kid scored 99% and he's agonized about getting the 1% wrong =P but overall I am very happy to watch so many wins and to have a skipper who dares his countrymen to dream big16 tins is right if we were pak passion like posters and our team had just scored 360 odd there would be plenty of chest beating and while that may be inappropriate over a meaningless warm up game so is the hand wringing. Be happy we have no injuries atm.
Not sure about chest beating or hand wringing, but as a long suffering Black Caps supporter I do have somewhat conflicting emotions at the moment. It's great to have a settled squad that's injury free and performing consistently well. Then again, I have this nagging doubt they could be flattering to deceive.16 tins is right if we were pak passion like posters and our team had just scored 360 odd there would be plenty of chest beating and while that may be inappropriate over a meaningless warm up game so is the hand wringing. Nah, this is just how good we are at the moment. I don't think this will be a false dawn like 2002-2003. Some of our best players, Williamson and Southee in particular, will still be in their 20s at the 2019 CWC. This side hasn't just been lucky, it's come back from a number of losing situations. This has always been the mark of a quality side to me.Then again, I have this nagging doubt they could be flattering to deceive.
we should wave our dicks everywhereThen what should we discuss?
lol if you're not doing this already.we should wave our dicks everywhere
I think Australia and SA are the favs and it will be an upset if we win so I am not getting ahead of myself either but on form we should make the semis on merit rather than relying on someone to capitulate like SA did last time. Not sure about chest beating or hand wringing, but as a long suffering Black Caps supporter I do have somewhat conflicting emotions at the moment. Do they mean the quarters? Semis? Or the actual final?Best thing is with the special deal the tab have on, NZ are paying $6 to make the finals. Load up guys.
We're a very good chance in the next one as well imo. All the young guys will have four more years of experience and I'm pretty sure it's in England so would you bet against Tim Southee taking bucketloads of poles?I think Australia and SA are the favs and it will be an upset if we win so I am not getting ahead of myself either but on form we should make the semis on merit rather than relying on someone to capitulate like SA did last time.
I also wouldn't be surprised if we make the final - but I think winning in Aus when we havn't played there in ages could be a bridge to far.
This will be our greatest ever chance of winning it in the next 20 years (given it is co-hosted by us and our team quality). Lets enjoy the ride and hope (and pray if you are religious) that we stay injury free as we don't have depth on the sidelines in the batting nor for Corey or for Luke.
Now or never IMO - England is foreign soil for our batsmenWe're a very good chance in the next one as well imo. All the young guys will have four more years of experience and I'm pretty sure it's in England so would you bet against Tim Southee taking bucketloads of poles?
