***Official*** Pakistan in New Zealand 2015

This is a slightly odd comment. We have a RR of 5.3 after 17 overs, which strikes me as an excellent platform to push on to 300+ (as we repeatedly did against India last year when Guptill was nurdling it at an SR of 60-odd).
See what you're saying, but in that series he scored 16, 35 and 44 (apart from the ton at Eden Park, where he uses the straight boundary as a get out of jail option). So what I'm saying is, he got out - so others could do a better job.

Pakistan have bowled awfully to him today. A smart side is going to hit back of a length, and probably not be concerned with getting him out - ie slips not necessary and no real need to attack the stumps. That'll create real pressure.

But as I've said before, he's the best option. And he's kicked on here, thanks in part to ****e bowling.

Jeez Pakistan's bowling looks an absolute shambles without Hafeez. Surely they've got to drop one of their batsmen for another bowler/allrounder?

Not Terrible
"Younis Khan to Guptill, 2 runs, not quite got his lines right as this one slips down leg, with Guptill tickling it round the corner to bring up a most important landmark as he crosses fifty for the first time in a long time. "

For people who follow cricket for a living they sure are terrible with their memory.

Two weeks a long time now? Sheesh.

Look I like Guptil and all, but don't go overboard here, this bowling line up is bloody awful. It's nearly like those guys who are going wild over the Saffers padding their stats against the useless West Indies though.

January 17 is a long time ago, apparently.

Edit: Beaten!

Excellent comeback Guptill...Still needs to work on his starts though, he won't always get the opportunity to catch it up.

I think all other things even, he needs to be at 60% minimum SR after 40 deliveries.

I guess the overriding factor is Gup doesn't feel he has control over his technique. Running down to third man becomes a risky proposition, whereas Kane has full control.

Brilliant...someone give me the Cliff Notes when he's done.
on Gup:
It's not unusual for him to be 15 (40) and to catch up later on.

Rigor:
And the team is comfortable with that?

McC:
With Baz there it's not an issue.
