Kane reminds me of so many of the greats. But if its anyone it has to be Tendulkar.
You should dig and the read Kane's thread when he got two ducks in a row upon international debut. We all stayed loyal to him (especially Howise to his credit) and he came good in his 3rd knock and shortly there after got a ton in a test in India and he was away.

It's pretty clear Kane has modeled aspects of his game on Tendulkar's. I've mentioned this to a lot of people here, and those who have actually watched Kane closely tend to agree. But surprising still that it isn't obvious to a lot of people considering when Sehwag came on the scene everyone was so quick to point out the Tendulkar likeness, and he's less of a close match than KW is IMO.

Dear lord. Textbook right point for the wrong reason.

Just watching highlights of the last game, and I see the ball from jevan mendis to dismiss Elliott was 69kph.

Assuming not a speedball mis-read, and it was slow loopy ball, that is the slowest ball I think I've ever seen register in international cricket since the radar became the norm.

elaborate
The calls about him being such a great player at a young age, or about having a career equal to Tendulkar.

Neither of merit him being similar to Tendulkar, just that his career is on a similar trajectory. Whereas i see the back foot cover drive, the on drive, the pull, the flick of the pads, the exquisite footwork, the ability to build to pace and innings, the unflappable temperament. Which also bear likeness to Ponting, Kallis and Dravid. Clarke too. It's obvious he grow up idolising the lot of them, but the completeness to his game just screams of Tendy.

I think its about right, Elliot came a long, long, long way down the pitch, yet still got beaten in the air. Definitely was slowed down more than Elliot was expecting, and loopier.

Good points but note this

1) If Ross doesn't return to form then Kane won't be all that he can be. He will burn out from trying to carry the batting by himself or he will become a red inker.
2) Kane is what he is his today to a certain degree because he has been a part of a winning team that Ross contributed towards and also Brendon and BJ etc. (And Tim and the rest of them tbf).

Chuffed to see the 3news piece where they interviewed some 6 year olds and they all had a fav blackcaps player. Havn't seen such excitement in some years.

Cricket: Milne's still in cup hunt despite side strain woe - Sport - NZ Herald News

"It is one of those muscle injuries that you tend to have a rethink about overnight," coach Mike Hesson said post-match. "Hopefully we got it early enough. You've got to be a wee bit cautious of side injuries for quick bowlers. He could've carried on, but we decided against it."

There is understood not to be any form of tear. Milne will lower his workload in the meantime as a form of preventative care.
Sounds like there's reason to be cautiously optimistic, though I doubt he'll play in either of the games this weekend.

That's actually really good management. It's easy to imagine New Zealand teams of the past telling him to "harden up" and "push through the pain". Remember when staff didn't want to believe Bond had broken his back? It's in his book anyway.

First post!

It's handy to have an injury prone Shane Bond as the bowling staff, he knows everything about signs of injuries and how to prevent them.

I agree that it's nice to have Bond there but the decision should have nothing to do with him.

The medical staff are the ones trained to make these decisions.

Ahahahahaha I only just watched Mahela swearing his ass off at the umpire after the Vettori review got shut down in game 2

Yeah, that was hilarious.

If the players are going to use DRS then they should probably familiarise themselves with it's rules.

The bowling lineup I'd like to see today is:

Boult
Mills
McC.

Just a straight shoot-out for Southee's opening partner.
