I was legitimately planning to make a Kaboom kid thread but was holding off until the third book came out

it's important to note that for the second book, the blurb mentions that Max the dog is in fact a stinky dog

Why exactly is it an idiotic fiction?
the usual suspects have been saying it for years. if you don't like sledging because it's demeaning and brings down the standard of the game that's one thing, but to constantly bring up the spectre of physical violence is sensationalist at best when it hasn't occurred at all.

I think given the nature of the confrontations nowadays, it's an understandable fear. The confrontations are happening within arm's reach, and inevitably a third man comes in too, to make things worse.

I don't know. Warner is taking obnoxiousness to previously unseen levels; I wouldn't be surprised if someone bops him.

This is a weird post hendrix.

Obviously if Warner has said "speak English" to Rohit in order to mock his accent then that's not on and he should cop some sort of punishment for that. I don't know why people are jumping to that conclusion though.

It seems far more likely to me that Rohit has decided to say something in another language to Warner as part of the spat (deliberately, so Warner couldn't understand) and Warner has felt that was cowardly and told him to speak English. If so, it's not racist, stupid or intolerant at all; it's just the standard crap we've seen all tour.
This sort of logic obviously does not extend to Harbhajan Singh, known speaker of the Queen's language.

Nah, the logic is that the player is a cowardly **** who doesn't have the stones to sledge someone in a language they can understand.
Pish. Do you want some of the subcontinental players to submit a list of known languages so the Aussies could do the honourable thing and sledge them in a language they do understand?

There's a difference between sledging which has an element of calculation to it, and plain swearing which is more emotional and does not take into account the proficiency of those around you.
