***Official*** India and England in Australia ODI Tri-Series 2015

Starc bowling with some serious pace. How was the pitch? People always expect England to do well in these conditions but they lost 5-0 in the Ashes followed by a 6-1 mauling in the ODI series. Might be somewhat ironic for some posters on here but Indian bats play pace and bounce very well in Aus overall ala CB series 08 victory. I think we should compete better in this series or I'll be very disappointed.

234 was never going to be enough the fact that Australia were able to try for a bonus point tells you they did not think too much of the total.

Starc bowled very well up front the white ball seems to be swinging a bit, from our point of view I think this makes us even harder to beat as Kumar up front will be a handful for both teams.

Looking forward to Australia v India on Sunday which I suspect will be a dress rehearsal for the final.

Who are these people?

Did you seriously write that? You are using a ODI series victory from 7 years ago to suggest your current side play these conditions well? Exactly how many players from '08 well be representing India this year?

**** it........in that case I'm calling Eng's tri series victory in '07 to lay claim to the World Cup now.

Valentines Day.

Good planning there, how many relationships will end when that one is realised?
Mine nearly did. Booked tickets for the Eng/Aus game on the 14th without really registering what day it was (also my wedding anniversary). Missus went ape **** when I told her, and when I kindly offered to take her too she really flipped her lid (the girl detests cricket)

I can just get away with it with mine and get up and watch it as it her birthday a couple of days later anyway. Spoil her then.

I miss our humiliation when Afghanistan beat us as i am going to the Gold Cup at Cheltenham that day so will have mind elsewhere.

How many ICC global ODI trophies do England hold and how many does India hold?

Love him loads, but its bloody hard work finding any strength to champion Finn these days, shadow of his former self.:(:(:

I thought we were talking Australian conditions mate?
Yes, but the point is England winning a tri series in 2007 when they were getting mauled until last few group games doesn't mean much by contrast we have done well in ODIs even abroad.. Not many gave us a chance in the Champions Trophy in England yet we one it unbeaten.

Also I do agree that we are pretty comfortable against bounce in ODI, not a Test fan but I am aware of Raina's struggles with the short ball in Tests but in ODI he thrives on the short ball he can rock back and dispatch it.

Yeah, I'm with you there. Still think I'd rather see Finn play in the WC than Jordan though...........at least we know with Finn that it's there in him somewhere.

If we're not going to play Tredders then I'd go; Jimmy, Broad, Woakes and Finn. A month ago I couldn't see a place for Tredwell in the WC now we've got Moeen (and his omission today would suggest the selectors are thinking the same) but now I think he's probably a better option than our 4th seamer........even in these conditions.

Did you read the post I was replying to? If the Eng ODI series win in 2007 doesn't count for **** (and I agree it doesn't) then how does the India win in '08? They are both a lifetime away for both teams.

I'll cut you a bit of slack as you are new here, but the sort of flag waving BS you just pulled isn't how we roll here. To ask how many global tourny's India have won compared to Eng when it is not relevant to the conversations is just rank posting.

And for the record, of course the smart money would be on India doing better than Eng in this tri series and the world cup..........but the reason for that has nothing to do with what happened here in 2008.

Generally you see unfounded optimism among my English friends regarding ODIs in Australia, NZ, SA - "home to home" so to speak.

Adders I am not using that claim in isolation, should have clarified. Naturally I am also referring to our recent test series where we faced these same bowlers. Also we our ranked joint top in ODIs with Australia, just beat SL 5-0. There is reason for optimism and not just because we are the defending champions. Like I said, I would be bitterly disappointed and somewhat surprised if we roll over in this triangular series.

On form and historically, India fight well in Australia.
