1. All time record for number of bowlers going for 100 or more in an innings in this series ( 23)
2. First time in a four test series - consecutive first innings scores over 500 by a team
3. First time in a four test series that both sides scored 400 or more in their first innings in every test
4. First time in a series that an opening batsman scored so many 50s back to back
5... etc etc etc

This series has written about 20 new statistics for how bad the bowling has been, how easy conditions are to bat in and how many runs pretty much everyone not named Watson or Pujara have scored.

As an aside, another case why I like huuuuge 1st innings scores. All in retrospect of course, but had Australia scored 600-650 they would have enough runs to compensate for cases where the pitch suddenly starts giving assistance.

I don't think I've seen an over from a pace bowler early in his spell with a new cherry where every ball was a half tracker.

I really don't know why teams don't do that more often.. get 650-700 and don't bat again.. why declare at anything less if you can downhill skill for a free 100 runs?
