I remember being given "not out" to a plumb LBW shout by a paid umpire in a rep match and when asked why - "The ball pitched outside off before hitting him infront of the wickets" - conversely, I remember another paid umpire saying "not out" to a stumping with the comment "Part of his foot was on the line"

Just because they're paid doesn't make them any good. Been fired by paid umpires on some rubbish decisions. Copped the worst of my life (from a paid umpire anyway) this season when i hit a yorker that was outside leg from an off spinner into my foot and got given out LBW. Only time i've ever said something to an umpire as i was walking off.

It used to really piss me off as an in-swing bowler, I'd constantly trap people plumb but have the umpire unable to tell the difference between "pitched outside" and "hit inline" but thems the breaks.

got given run out in the grand final last year by a paid umpire when i was at least elbow deep in the crease. the same umpire who fired someone lbw with an inside edge. the same umpire who fired someone lbw going well over. we lost by like 6 runs
