***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

Saha just didn't look very comfortable out there on such a slow wicket. He would struggle on any decent wicket, from the looks of it. Tried his best, but in an era where you need your keeper to bat as well, may not be good enough. Can see Dinesh Karthik being the keeper for India post Dhoni's retirement. Karthik can play strokes, has an okay defense and can average 30-35 in tests.

Some of the better Australian commentary I have listened to for a while - though that isnt saying much. However, I know the Burns catch wasnt difficult but they are crucifying him. Nothing is easy at short leg.

Wow he's only 29. Assumed Karthik was mid 30s by now.

Excuse my ignorance, but why the heck do Indian keep persevering with Raina when he's so clearly not a 'Test' batsman, and there's so many talented young batsmen to choose from?

I love Karthik. Fantastic keeper, real fighter with the bat. Poor man's ABDV tbh.
Fighter, he is. Went to the Eden yesterday to watch the last day's play of Bengal v Tamil Nadu. While I just watched a few overs in the end, I did manage to catch Karthik's 100 and his celebration. Had the whole dressing room cheering. From 30/3 and 60 overs to go on the last day, Karthik apparently played a marvelous inning to save the game. He has done the yards. Has a very good attitude. Hope he gets his chance.

Because of his great FC record... no wait it is mediocre.
Because he's very fit and brings a good training attitude to India... no wait he's a chubby ****.

Basically there is no reason other than random hope. At least with Rohit you can see he should be good even if he's never going to be.

I would put Vikram Rathour ahead of Raina. That's how bad Raina is. I wouldn't judge him by today's first ball duck, mind, even though it was a **** stroke which shouldn't have been played. I am usually a bit easy on players when they get out on the first ball. Can happen to the best.

starc doesn't do angry **** very well does he
Starc has always has me in a dual mind. Can generate pace, can bowl a few really nice wicket taking balls. However, sprays the ball all over, like one would spray paint on a wall. Today, hasn't been completely haphazard but is still way below acceptable levels in consistency in line. He has the raw talent to go on to play a few more tests in his career, I would say though.

Ojha has a reputation for been quite good against spin, no harm in giving him a go if India are in the SC for the next year or so in tests.

Eh then he will just struggle on the away tours.

I rather Saha/Karthik do the job for a few years till Samson is ready.
