***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

Say what you want about the pitches, I certainly don't think the series has been boring. Granted we've made it entertaining by collapsing on a heap at times. I'd have preferred spicier surfaces but Fmd I've been entertained for the most part. This thinking that runs=boring is weird. There've been 2 results which have been possible because of the sheer pace at which both teams have scored and often even on these supposed bowlers' graveyards, Australia's top order have found themselves in heaps of trouble only for the tailenders to bail them out. Been the reverse for India.

Regardless it's been fun to watch for me. You blokes saying its been a bore because Mitch hasn't got a 10-fer every game must be miserable ****s. Watching Kohli and Rahane demolish Johnson's bouncers repeatedly was incredible to watch no matter how batter friendly the pitch was. Watching Warner perform repeated anal examinations on Shami and Yadav and Aaron has been amazing to watch even though the pitches are roads.

Nah there should be so much more bounce on offer for the bowlers atleast.

Been a pretty dissapointing series for me. I really enjoy seeing tough batting conditions against quality attacks With a much lower par score than what we have seen.

Let's see Smith against an attack that doesn't have one of its main seamers operating at 115kph before we make any rash calls.

A lot of the shots that Kohli and Rahane have played on this tour they would have been dismissed in England a few months back. No way of proving this of course and not taking all the gloss of their performances, but the kind of strokemaking we have seen is not a world away from what you would see on a road in the subcontinent with true bounce and little lateral movement.

Nah, the events surrounding this summer really do mean that most people involved in the game should get a bit of leeway. Scheduling changes would have recked the plans of curators, CA would have wanted 5-day pitches to make up for the rescheduling dramas etc.

No need to run around like the sky's caving in and Australian pitches are now all roady-roads. If it continues again next season, then yeah, the discussion might become relevant.
I also wonder if at the back of their minds some of the groundstaff have subconsciously (or maybe even consciously) avoided having a deck that's been too juicy and might give someone like Johnson a bit too much encouragement to dig it in short?

That isn't particularly meaningful, though, given that they'd probably play differently in England -- and indeed, in Rahane's case, we already know he can score there.

Depends how many of the Burns misses you want to actually hold against him. I swear, everything that went near him under the helmet required something freakish from him to make it into a half-chance.
He was dreadful in close and I have no idea why Smith didn't replace him with somebody else as there was little chance of him catching anything bar the easiest of chances

If India can dominate the morning session like the did all three sessions yesterday then the test match should be safe. In reality, I feel like Smith has dropped any chance of Australia winning this test match yesterday. But you have to credit the Indian batsmen for toughing it out even though it's another terrible test wicket for bowlers.

Seems to be one of the last things that hasn't become "professional" in terms of approach and attitude - instead of training someone (like Langer and Boon used to be) to be capable under the lid, get used to the types of chances that come your way and be able to read the batsman well enough to know when they might be in with a chance, you see the old school amateur approach of "Let's chuck the new guy under the lid, that'll be his spot"

I'd argue it's actually a much more specialised position than even slip is.

Yeah, if you looked at Doolan in the series against SA he looked super ready and alert to take anything that came his way, following the shot and the movements of the batsmen to get into position. I think he was short leg for Tasmania before? His catches to dismiss Smith would have been only considered half chances.
I would say Burns is just looking like waiting for a nice to bob up off the glove.

Australia is going to have a lead of about 150 on the first dig here, we all realise this don't we?

If Kohli scores a triple here, then the act of any captain starting like this will forever be renamed "Doing A Kohli"
