***Official**** Sri Lanka in New Zealand 2014/2015

Your batsman have shown to be a bit better I guess. I'm certainly not expecting another 50 all out or whatever.

You'll probably say England are a lot worse but I think they're about the same now as they were then. That summer papered over a lot of cracks that were evident well before the debacles in Australia and v Sri Lanka.
They may actually be better, well in batting terms anyway.

Spin bowlers invariably, especially over the wicket ones - most batsmen will setup with a squarer stance. I know I did.

It's the slouching over his bat that is the most problematic, he's dragging his bat away from himself, then up, then down again. To do that, he has to play the ball very early and that's where his issues have been. Not such an issue with aggressive strokes, because he has to play those early anyway.
I agree with you regarding the problem - the setup he's gone for at the moment is bizarre. Most importantly, any change was completely unnecessary. The only difference here is that you're arguing that it's a regression to his more natural technique whilst I think that it's a change that he's actively decided to make.

Hopefully we can both agree that the need is for him to go back to the drawing board - whatever the cause.

How hard would it be to face this **** from Thiri and not just want to smash him to the boundary like you would against this bowling at club level.

lol. Yesterday I predicted Williamson out for 65 and Neesham to tonne up, then said when Neesham failed that Williamson would have to get 165 - mission accomplished.

He needs to train, that's all it is - it's bad habits slipping back into his game that he used to have when he was much younger, when he's playing well he's a lot more upright at the crease and a lot later to play the ball. If he goes back to what he was doing pre 2013, books out Seddon Park's lanes two hours every single day and has Martin Crowe (or another good judge of technique) on his case, he'll get back there because of his natural talent.

At the moment, he just isn't putting in the effort.

Kohli scored an easyish 5th day ton here last year.

Need a big lead, don't think the 'over 200 4th innings chase is difficult' really applies to a Basin greentop that improves and doesn't deteriorate until we don't know when .....

I remember those 2 easy 4th innings chases here in 2004. That was peak-Vettori (made worse as he was in his post-back injury 2 year crapness phase)

There is an article in today or yesterday's Dom-Post (can't find it online unfortunately) about how much time Taylor has been spending in the nets at the Basin. It is apparently a lot. (Also, Neesham not so much).

Sri Lanka need to shut Watling down square and make him drive. He's a perfectly fine driver but he's more conservative with the front foot aggression and prefers to pitch a tent on the back foot and cut, run it to third man or drop and run.

They should have done it before he got to 20 but they may as well do it now.
