Agar got released from the squad, I believe. Turning out for the Scorchers again tonight (?)

Clarke is making a lot of "I want to play for a few more years" noises, although obviously that may not be remotely practical.
If he gave away limited overs stuff and only played first class cricket in the lead up to test matches, spending the rest of his time doing strength and resilience, I think he could get through it. He probably also needs to convert himself into a mid off/mid on fielder to have less struggles with crouching down in the slips all day.

Yeah, he was fielding there when he rubbished his back in the First Test. Really hope he does manage to prolong his Test career somehow.

He's always been a better ring fielder than slips fielder (though he's turned into a very, very good slips fielder) so that won't be an issue.

It's what I like to refer to as the Vettori position - Vettori never moved outside of the mid on/mid off due to his own back issues and the fact that he didn't need to be brilliant fielding there. Clarke needs to go into that position as soon as possible and from Australia's sake, they should almost force him not to play any cricket outside of test season for them.

Was watching Rahane's innings of 147 yesterday. What a player. That over when he smacked around Mitch Johnson while just standing there was legendary.

Pretty sure he will retire from LO cricket after the World Cup. Hope he can extend his test career for as long as possible.

If it wasn't a World Cup year and if the World Cup wasn't in Australia I imagine he would have retired from LOs already.

Who's he going to replace though. Bailey?

As much as Bailey looks like he might have lost his form I'd probably still pick him over Clarke.
