Unless he puts some serious work into fixing his action he's only ever going to be effective when his pace is a threat on its own, which it isn't at international level.
He's a mess. Bar his pace, which as you mentioned is only decent at the test level he just has nothing.

good session for us, hopefully the next one will be better with both of these guys going big to get us a lead..

Looking at the score (I juat tuned in) this is some Test! A pile of runs (81*) for the 6th wicket and still trailing by 62 after a first innings score of 221. Have conditions changed dramattically, or is is just one of those days?

It's dried out a little and it's definitely a new ball wicket, but these two have just batted better really.

Dunno what Blocky was watching but Boult didn't pitch it up enough. He was too tight operating on a good length. Didn't get Sanga driving.

I really hate watching Neesham having to bowl.
It's painful at present. I know it's a different format but he's doing himself no favours in terms of World Cup best XI selection (not that his one-day figures are deserved, in any case).

It looks like a long-term project to get him to where he needs to be, bowling wise.

Whether Sanga would've taken the bait or not is irrelevant, Boult's pitch map shows that he didn't even try it

Possibly the best thing about all-night cricket from the other side of the world is that we get pundits who actually offer insight over soundbites.

Wonder how many kids they have managed to put off wicketkeeping with that bit, though...

Before I launch into the brains trust for preparing a green top for a test against a side who have the worst seamers in the top 8, what happened yesterday? I'm guessing 15 wickets falling = green top?

Some poor shot selection as well. Especially from NZ.
