I think part of the approach is a fear the pitch will flatten on day 2 meaning grounding it out to 255/9 by stumps won't be as good as all out for 215 with SL 40/2 at stumps. Right or not, appears to be their thinking.
Nah, this pitch isn't flattening out any time soon. It's been overcast all day, and the pitch is still so green that if it were a person it would definitely taking the day off work. Won't get properly good to bat on until day 3 at the earliest.

Getting Bmac was the turning point, had them under pressure from that point on and a mixture of good bowling and poor shots did the rest. Pradeep was brilliant, a little inconsistent and drivable but bowled the best areas throughout the day and always looked the most likely, Lakmal was a little lucky to pick up 3/70, he built some pressure in the first session but really didn't bowl all that well, Prasad was inconsistent but bowled some good spells
