?We lost 3 wickets and after that we were always going to try for a draw. I know India had nothing to lose but another loss in Australia-England would be not meant much for us. This is our first non loss result in the two countries after 14 consecutive losses.
Exactly.?
In my post I referred to the morning, i.e. when India were in the field. This morning they simply allowed Australia to meander along with a low run rate for the first 1-1.5 hours without any real pressure to get a wicket or, alternately, to encourage quicker runs and an earlier declaration.
I don't think anyone is criticising the way India batted, rather the captaincy/approach in the morning session.@Spartk: Oh ya. I am not sure why I just thought the England series was a whitewash this time. Brain fade.
But still, after 3 quick wickets, I am not sure we had much of a chance to draw this and it was a fair enough approach here.
Ah sorry then about the field placements, but even then what he said was heinous. He didn't say that? He said he was happy with the bowling in the second innings, we did well and we were able to dictate terms.
and you would be the same person who would say, oh look, we folded like a delicate paper napkin in the last two tests had we lost 4-0.Speak for yourself Pratters, was a bit relieved that it was a draw in the end, but a "great result for india" this is not.
This.In any case, this whole discussion would have almost certainly have been rendered moot if we could ****ing catch. And run people out.

Baz might have 50/50tbh clarke's captaincy has spoiled us. he's the only modern captain who comes to mind as potentially have done anything other than what smith did today.
Yes well then India barely tried to bowl Australia out, very defensive fields and didn't even take the new ball. This was a must-win game to still be in the series and they were ok with it being a draw right from the start at the morning? Very well, cheers then, I'll take the series win any day.I didn't see the session.
I have noticed how the Australians have stood a bit deep throughout the test in the slips. Could have caught a few more maybe if not so deep.
Classic ShastriShastri: "To hell with the scoreline" Oh dear.
