Haven't seen much of Neesham but he's had a great start to Test cricket.. how good is he? Is he lucky to have a 47+ average?
He's like Haddin. He's an excellent strokemaker but doesn't have much of a defensive game to speak of. Handy batsman to have flaying an attack but he's realistically a 35 average career batsman.

Yeah he is nowhere near a 47+ average. Used to post on CW as well.

I reckon he'll get to be a solid contributor who is hopefully averaging around 35. Lots of future potential.

Benefitted from coasting in McCullum's slipstream a bit. Definitely not a 47 average batsman.

Bugger, kinda surrendered the advantage a little bit in that last hour. 500 looking a long way away now.

He's so good at smashing **** attacks plus playing pressure knocks against good ones that it should be a tad higher than that imo, and should go higher if he tightens up.

On the plus side with Watling gone we'll be bowling in the morning :)

Funnily enough if SL manage to dismiss NZ for ~550 sometime midday tomorrow, it might work out well for them since they won't have stayed out in the sun for too long.. For McCullum's whirlwind innings to work in NZ's favor I think NZ need to keep batting and make 650+ and declare sometime at tea tomorrow, otherwise SL get to bat on a 2nd day pitch after rest.. Assuming of course Boult + Southee don't destroy the inexperienced line-up which is asking a lot tbf..

3 tailend wickets in the first session seems plausible.. in which case SL will bat around lunch which is probably the best time to bat in the test match..

Agreed.. Kaushal has shown that he can't handle it when batsmen go after him.. so why change strategies?
I hope that's the end of Flem promoting Watling to be a limited overs player. He simply can't apply icing even when he walks out with 400 on the board.

35 is plenty good IMO. Theres a lot of players who average around that who are better than Neesham with the willow atm.

What world are you living in? This lot won't bat till tea in any circumstance.

And there is a little in this pitch, we'll back our guys to give us a massive lead tomorrow.

It's rubbish if we don't manage to put on 500. They've bowled utter piss. Shouldn't have gifted so many wickets.
