Underrated skill though. It's just sort of assumed that any decent technical player can take a good corner, but that's not true. Arsenal are really missing Ozil's.

Haha yeah, I'm being facetious really. But there's no doubt there's much, much more too it than just the taker. Fabregas' and Kroos' assist numbers have bloated this season having gone from sides that basically didn't bother with them to two of the best three in the world at converting them.

Nothing more frustrating as a Utd fan than watching us waste every corner we get.

And the ****s score again. Was praying for a Stoke equaliser, as I had 50/1 on Juve, Chester and Stoke all to draw at home tonight, First 2 are home, so just needed the ball to bounce of Crouch's head and I could cash out :(

Well, I didn't think I'd be supporting Chelsea in any game this year, but 5 mins of watching Stoke saw to that.

Not sure how Bardsley (sp?) didn't get a red. Stoke don't look like a football team so much as a bunch of middle-aged, alcohol-addled former boxers, especially Adam and that "player" who fouled Hazard near the end.

Thing is Aguero was huge before then. I remember I always used to sign him on Fifa 07 and 08 when I was ten years old and blitz ****. Not like there was a cruel twist of fate. He was just trying to be a smartarse bigging up the British and looks even more a **** now than he was being then.

I don't really understand why Holt gets the best jobs? Is it just an incumbency thing? His writing isn't very good, his opinions are always either wrong or spurious, he doesn't provide any great gossip or insider info. It's not an Adrian Durham thing where he just churns out obvious clickbait, he's reasonably well respected. I don't see the point of him at all.

Certain journos always jump on the "average player does well at average/crap side and gets a transfer to a supposedly better side" thing and hail it as the best thing since sliced bread for some reason. Has been happening for as long as I can remember. Particularly, I recall last year when several of them labled Flamini as the signing of the season after Arsenal beat Spurs... A tag which is still looking good 18 months on...

(I'll concede I was largely in favour of the move at the time, but some of the hyperbole being churned out was ridiculous.)

Signing Flamini was an excellent move, but the failure to sign anyone better has left him with far too central a role, and now he's out of his depth.

He's still just a backup player theoretically though. It was a good signing because Arsenal can always do with more players. If I remember at the time Arteta was ruled out for a while and the Wilshere and Ramsey midfield paring had conceded three at home to Villa a few days before. Even now he's still better than playing Coquelin or some academy player there. I mean, Wilshere, Arteta and Ramsey are always injured.

I'm sure he was better in 07 though. Not that I was an extensive analyser of the game back then, but the general sentiment when he left was that it was really bad. Now the general sentiment on my twitter timeline is that his mere existence is bad. Guess that's what happens when players spend half a decade in Serie A though.

Bale to United would be insane.

Preparing myself for a lifetime of 5th place finishes (at best).

I'll be surprised if Bale isn't at United in a couple of years. Players who aren't Ronaldo or Spanish don't tend to stay too long at Real. They'll need to make room once Isco is playing regularly, Reus is there and they come for Sterling just like they did with Özil and Di Maria.
