Clive Lloyd has totally lost it? I'm not a WI fan though.Any West Indies aficionados in here able to explain the choice of Holder as captain? Seems a bit of a really inexplicable left field choice.
If you're looking to the future, who else is there? Ramdin isn't getting any younger and they obviously want to use this series to Test someone new out, Samuels isn't captaincy material, and all the other options are dropped or rested. Holder probably has some potential as a leader, so for this series, why not see how he goes? I think they're primarily sorting out depth positions for the WC anyway.Any West Indies aficionados in here able to explain the choice of Holder as captain? Seems a bit of a really inexplicable left field choice.
Natural-talent say hi to no-plan-neededThe plan to exit the World Cup at the first knockout stage remains on track.
Pretty much what Dan said tbh. It is total and utter madness though. Dwayne Bravo was basically the best allrounder in ODI cricket last year (made the ICC team for example) and yet he's been dropped. This is very clear punishment for the abandoned tour of India as hios performances have been excellent.Any West Indies aficionados in here able to explain the choice of Holder as captain? These are current stats.Yes lets keep all the all old guys in the side because of their stats from the past!!..LARA...GET YOUR PADS ON MATE!!!
No way, not for me. It's not quite that simple. If it were, Hadlee's 431 wickets from 86 has a better ratio than both (but we all know Hadlee didn't have much class at the other end).Dale Steyn 379 wickets in 76 matches, goes past Malcolm Marshall 376 wickets in 81 matches.
Best bowler ever probably.
Sigh!!.."short sighted"? i'm thinking LONGTERM smartypants!!..and once again your comprehension skills leave a lot to be desired as i said IF HE DOESN'T MAKE RUNS i'd drop him...that's MY VIEW..you wanna cry about it then that's your business, but my stance won't be changing. These are current stats.
We can make it the last 12 months if you want? Batting records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo
Last 6 months? Batting records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo
How short sighted or ****ing stupid have you got to be to suggest dropping him? It's baffling.
He's currently the 5th best Test batsman in the world according to the ICC rankings ffs. I appreciate they're not gospel but your next batsman is 30th and you just picked Assad Fudadin in a Test squad ffs.
Read the **** you're posting man.
Dwayne Bravo played a major role in the strike which brought utter shame to our cricket...he has also in the past made it plainly clear that the IPL comes before WI...and you're seriously crying for that idiot? The guy has wasted his talent and if anything has gone backwards from the form he showed at the start of his career!!..f#ck him!! i really wouldn't care if he never wears the great WI shirt again.Pretty much what Dan said tbh. It is total and utter madness though. Dwayne Bravo was basically the best allrounder in ODI cricket last year (made the ICC team for example) and yet he's been dropped. Just after a World Cup is the time you appoint a young captain and give him time to develop the side, not just a couple of months before having given Bravo a year to try and mould his side. Clive Lloyd has no common sense at all, great captain he may have been but administratively he has presided over some collosal mess ups and to me this is another one.
I'm seriously hoping that the ODI squad for SA that doesn't include either Bravo, Pollard or Sammy is deliberately experimental so we can have a look at the likes of Jonathon Carter.
We are one continuous mess at the moment and they barely make a decision which doesn't make me question their sanity.
Shiv could average 30 for the next 5 years and still be in your top 4 available batsmen tbph.Sigh!!.."short sighted"? i'm thinking LONGTERM smartypants!!..and once again your comprehension skills leave a lot to be desired as i said IF HE DOESN'T MAKE RUNS i'd drop him...that's MY VIEW..you wanna cry about it then that's your business, but my stance won't be changing.
Yeah, if Shiv fails in all three tests, he'd still be the first name on my WI team sheet for whenever they next play test cricket. The guy has averaged ****ing 70 for the last 8 years, and was (as usual) WI's best batsman against NZ over the past year. His continued determination to play test cricket is a precious asset for WI cricket, especially when you consider the overall lack of batting depth in the region.Shiv could average 30 for the next 5 years and still be in your top 4 available batsmen tbph.
If you want to look long-term and develop talent then dropping one of your most successful batsmen ever and the only consistent player you've had for the past decade is a pretty arse-about-face way of going about things.
Panicking after he's had the shortest form slump ever (i.e. a solitary test) is just absurd
