Does Tasmania really have no one who can replace Wells? Surely there are guys waiting who can do better than an average of 22 after 30 matches.

So good from Cowan. He is really pushing for Rogers spot back. I mean, I don't think Boof minds Ed, its just he rated Rogers higher.

Re: Burns, I don't see him as an opener at all. I do think he is exciting though and is probably pushing for a second reserve batting spot on an overseas tour (the fact that he can bat anywhere in the order helps too).

henriques and abbott's strike rates seem, on the face of it, really disappointing. they should have been hitting out

Cameron Bancroft doesn't seem to enjoy the 2nd innings very much

1st innings scores: 129 - 99 - 61 - 132 - 29
2nd innings scores: 1 - 2 - 8 - 0

i think burns has the skills to open however I'd prefer him to take over at 3

we can not take watson over to england. Anderson will eat him alive, while his innings on tuesday was short (as most of his are) it showed he's not sorted any of his technical flaws, he's still a walking lbw and still relies heavily on boundaries to score

a double from carters will really put his name in the discussion, though I'd like to see silk score some runs as he's a genuine talent as an opener

would have thought moz would declare overnight, so no 200 for Carters

then again i would have thought he'd not bat at a S/R of 40....

It's looking a bit better weather wise today so batting on and trying to get 200 in front doesn't seem too bad an option. You would hope Dougeh, Starc, Abbott and Henriques would be able to get em hooping if it's overcast this afternoon. Six points would be very handy.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Burns has only really come good since he's started opening. Just seems to agree with him. Him and my boi Carters are probably the two who would be next in line to replace Rogers, although Cowan is shouting 'look at me' pretty loud atm. Marsh and a few others will come more into it for no.3. I reckon TPC might even fancy his chances in that spot.

Silkers needs to drink from Eddie's water bottle. Has gone off the boil.

So Ryan Carters has now batted on all four days of a Shield match in his team's first innings. Has this ever happened before?

Idk who's idea it was to get Burns opening but I like a young bat taking the responsibility of a top order spot. Shows he wants the opportunities to fulfil his ambitions. So I like Burns as an alternative to Rogers. After a slow start Carters has now photo bombed himself into the picture. Cowans' past is both a handicap and an advantage. I find myself excluding him bcos I believe we've moved on but contradictorily thinking his experience is an asset. If selected again will he appreciate it as his last chance and begin converting some of his starts into tons? His record suggests he can't but is their hope he could do what Rogers has achieved at least.

I was massively into Burns for hiding down at 5 (and still make the same complaint about Smarsh). You ain't serious about a test cap if you're not batting top 4 in the Shield unless you're also got a sub 30 bowling average.

Was really pleased when he moved up the order and doubly so when he started making consistent runs there. Those are the guys you want to give an opportunity at higher levels to.

It's a ripper of a stat. Spewing he choked on the double, but a superb knock in what are obviously not the easiest of conditions.

Ranks up there with McCosker being on the field for every second of a Shield win (against Vic I think) after carrying his bat both innings (NSW 4th innings chase)

FOUR, cut away through the gully region to the rope. SA 0/4 (Cosgrove 4, Raphael 0)

The replay of his dismissal is a laugh. Got given out about three times before he left the crease.
