nah thats not gonna happen. Its just a matter of getting onto the pitch and although it might take a bit of time for some of them to settle down I don't expect them to drop their aggression any bit. If anything I expect them to be more aggressive.

It's Adelaide. If it doesn't make it to Day 4 at least then someone will have had the mother of all ****-ups. I mean, England tried their best and even they got to Day 5.
Adelaide should be ok. Brisbane more of a concern but it starts a day later. Sydney should be ok for India also. Brisbane the big chance to offer the conditions that could create a short game really.

Just read the last few pages. Find it surreal than Raina has/had a chance of playing the first test.

Re the bowling line up - Ashwin will likely make it ahead of Karnataka Sharma. I heard him on Couchtalk a few months back and essentially he thought except 1 test he did not do too badly last time in Australia. Cannot remember his logic but it is there in the interview. Any ways he has the experience.

Yadav has to play. Don't care how he bowled in the warm ups. If Aaron seems worthy enough I would not mind Aaron and Yadav playing together along with Ishant ahead of Bhuvi.

I would go for Rahul ahead of Dhawan even if Rahul has not played a game if Dhawan is looking really poor.

I am happy how the 2 sides are going about their cricket, not too many harsh things said, all in all we just wanna watch cricket without too much argey bargey.Couldn't cope with burning effigies in Indian streets even if it could be for their own players.
Seems like the Hughes effect has humbled the Aussies. The only springs against India came from Harris and Siddle before Hughes death.Seems the players just want to get through the test with a minimum of fuss or too much talk.
The Hughes effect could be a case of Aussie players merely surviving out there.
But agree want the first ball bowled a bouncer, whether thats India or Australia, that said if India bounce them or sledge Australia it just might fire them up.

So Rock N Roll lets play.

Aaron
Bhuvi
Sharma
Karn Sharma

Is what i'd probably go with. Off spinners generally don't do well in Australia and don't rate Ashwin for tests as highly as others do on here anyway.

Karn Sharma offers something different and will have surprise factor plus can bat a bit too.

I'd like Aaron to play in the first Test too. Seems to be the bowler in form.

Dhawan
Vijay
Pujara
Kohli (*)
Rahane
Rohit
Saha (+)
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Ishant
Aaron

seems likely.

I could envisage India trying to be aggressive and dropping Ashwin and Rahane for Yadav and Raina. That gives you 4 quicks with Raina/Rohit for support.

Also it seems that the India vs. CA XI game was littered with bouncers:

Shami needs less cricket not more. Poor guy looks fatigued. He could barely run into the crease in England. His rhythm was not all there.

He looked good in the ODIs; but Bhuvi and Ishant aren't going to be dropped and Aaron has looked better in the warmups. Straightforward selection IMO.

Med-quick guys who tail it a bit but keep it real tight are always handy at Adelaide. Bhuvi could definitely do a job. Taking both of Aaron and Yadav in would be suicide.
Yeah and let's not forget Yadav performance at Adelaide in 2012.

I do not think they will drop Yadav. If Aaron is in form enough to get the managment to select him, Bhuvi should give way given he is more of a stock bowler in Aussie conditions.

That's not a very convincing reason to pick someone..

Not the convincing one but unfortunately he is the no.1 spinner for India in this tour and I wouldn't want to see a debutant or Jadeja in the team ahead of Ashwin for the first test.

I guess the important thing for Ashwin is to stick to his strengths and not experiment or try to be cheeky.

I have a feeling that Indian middle-order will do well in this series. I'm not sure about Rohit; but Kohli, Rahane and Pujara should do well. Rohit is the kind of batsman who might end up with 8 scores of 0, 153*, 13, 9, 4, 6, 0, 39.

Surely Nostrils gets a gig here ahead of someone like Bhuvi. If it doesn't swing the latter will be cannon fodder won't he?
They should both play, ideally. I think they'll go for Aaron though... If they do, then there's no way Yadav should play. He's probably our best quick, but as has been said several times playing both him and Aaron would turn ugly quick

I jujust hope Rohit gets a go this time. 4 years ago we kept getting massacred and even in the last test, didn't bother to give Rohit a game even though the series was long gone. Was so stupid.
