Yep. Taufeeq is also not a terrible bowler; bowls both offies and leggies I think.Azhar bowls a bit in domestic cricket. Leggie.
Why not be accurate and say 'out, but keeping the traditional bias towards the batsman to make umpires feel relevant'umpires call should be officially referred to as 50/50 imo
Bit rich coming from a Pakistani. You ****s never gave Miandad lbw.Because roads make the bowlers jobs really tough.
This, so much. Why not be accurate and say 'out, but keeping the traditional bias towards the batsman to make umpires feel relevant'
Tbf umpires call when about 5% of the ball is fair enough. But yeah little doubt that particular one was hitting. This, so much.
Feel your pain, I detest those ones going against NZ. Really reitirates how much influence umpires still have on LBWs with DRS. Bowlers seem to be robbed of 5-10% of the stumps when an umpire gives it not-out considering those clipping.perhaps not a bad review despite the ump's call. On pitches like these the benefit of doubt should go to bowlers
My beef with it isn't that an 'umpire's call' outcome exists, it's that the only time they think to employ it is when it's both close and out. If it were really due to inaccuracy then 'umpire's call' would also be for when the ball is narrowly missing the stumps. As it is, the job it does is to keep alive the maxim of 'give the benefit of the doubt to the batsman', which isn't and never has been part of the rules.Tbf umpires call when about 5% of the ball is fair enough. Law 27 Appeals
6. Consultation by umpires
Each umpire shall answer appeals on matters within his own jurisdiction. If an umpire is doubtful about any point that the other umpire may have been in a better position to see, he shall consult the latter on this point of fact and shall then give his decision. If, after consultation, there is still doubt remaining the decision shall be Not out.
