Last year the board had earned a handsome amount close to USD 9 million from sale of television rights by selling the series against South Africa and Sri Lanka separately to two different broadcasters," the source added.

"But this time the PCB has been forced to sell the Australia and New Zealand series in a bundle because the value of the New Zealand team among the broadcasters is very low, lower than even the Sri Lankan team," the source said.

Meh, they're a non draw in NZ as well, that being said - I'd say only Aus, England and India are the only draws. The rest just don't have the star power or expat population to generate interest.

Typical blockyism, no one ever said Wagner couldn't reverse it, just that Southee and maybe Boult are better at it.
A: Boult simply does not reverse swing the ball
B: Southee gets reverse swing in about the 60th over.

Wagner gets reverse swing from the 45th over onwards - check his performances against England and the West Indies. Against India he was banging the ball into the deck a bit more due to the Indian batsman being susceptible to that sort of attack.

And actually, a lot of people were saying "Wagner doesn't get reverse swing" - so read the forum before adding your three cents.

If Misbah wins the toss I hope he isn't swayed by anything other than what will give him the best chance to win.

It's all about winning, it's home conditions so what if you do well?

What did NZ or Australia expect? They knew exactly what was coming and couldn't match the challenge.

Baz has the worst luck at the toss. Legit must have the worst stats for a captain. He lost pretty much all of the ones against India.

Consistently being the key word. They really don't. Everyone knows Wagner can reverse swing the ball, we just argue over how good he is at it, as in he gets a bit of shape but he really isnt that great at it (my 2c)

Against India, England and WI Southee was getting the ball to reverse just as early as Wagner. Its just that he doesnt actually bowl in the 45-60 over period that much. He would get the ball to shape, then Wagner would come on, and because he bowled such massive spells, a few would really hoop.

On one hand you can admire Hesson for not panicking after such a one sided defeat..as shuffling the chairs frantically can often lead to confusion. But on the other side of things when you see the pakistan batsmen feast off Craig without any problem whatsoever wouldn't it be naive to just ignore that? especially when we're talking about someone who isn't exactly proven at test level yet.

Imo for NZ to get back into this series they will need Boult, Southee and Wagner working in tandem...only teams with a spin duo of high quality should be relying on spinners..and NZ simply don't have that so why not stick to your strengths?

Comeback chances plummet - cricket - sport | Stuff.co.nz

Jesse Ryder's chances of a World Cup recall may have nosedived after his withdrawal from Otago's Twenty20 match in Christchurch on Sunday.

The destructive batsman is now in serious doubt to board the plane to Dubai on Wednesday with the New Zealand A squad, as New Zealand Cricket tries to piece together the events of Friday, after the Otago Volts' golf day in Dunedin.

It was understood Ryder was drinking during and after the golf day. There were no complaints about his behaviour. Otago management was tight-lipped yesterday, saying Ryder was unavailable for "personal reasons", which were understood to involve a relationship issue.

Ryder wasn't on the team flight from Dunedin to Christchurch on Saturday morning and informed management he was unavailable for the match against Canterbury, which the Volts won by one run.

Southee got no where near the same amount of shape as Wagner until much later with the ball. But hey, continue discrediting a guy that took his wickets at an average of 23 last season.

Noone's discrediting him. We just watch cricket rather than read about it.

Reverse swing in 40th over:

Again, I'm not saying Wagner bowled badly or didn't deserve his wickets. I'm just trusting the evidence of my eyes rather than what people write.

Yeah, was just going to mention this spell. 40th over, reverse swing. Big wickets, get out Jelepeno.

Southee generally gets swing later, in this instance the conditions were well suited to it - but if you look at his usual procession, he won't get the ball to move until probably the 55th to 60th over. Wagner in England, also in NZ was reverse swinging it much earlier and in the sub continent would likely get reverse swing much more frequently than Southee.

Boult on the other hand doesn't have a clue how to get it.

That's just not what I've seen. I watched pretty much all of the tests vs England. I barely saw Wagner reverse the ball.

I just said that I'm going on what I've seen with my own two eyes.

He might have the ability to reverse it better than Southee but that's just not what I've seen. If he does, I certainly hope he re-discovers that ability because it would be a huge asset.

He never lost it, the problem you have is that you're short sighted and argumentative - which means when the idea of "Wagner does something better than Southee" comes up, you comb the recesses of your brain to find an example of Southee doing that thing while conviniently forgetting any example of Wagner doing it - you also convniently forget the role/tactics that Wagner bowled with during the Indian series, where he targeted them with shorter bowling because of pitch conditions and he knew he could ruffle them.

Southee is a much better bowler than Wagner as it currently stands, but Wagner has produced spell upon spell of reverse swing where as in Southee's case, it's a pretty new skill and has only been shown recently- one to devestating effect in the clip you posted. I could pull the world record over, or Wagner's luckless bowling in the Windies in his debut test, or Wagner's wickets against England and show the same sort of thing, but in my view, when you have almost every single cricketing pundit with half a brain endorsing Wagner and his reverse swing skill set, it's not really a discussion you're going to have your mind swayed on.
