Why would he bowl then? Every time he doesn't make runs the back alibi seems to come out. He is either fit or he is not. If he plays he is fit is generally the rule. His back was meant to be playing up the last time the Indians came to our shores and we all know how much time he spent at the crease there.
Didn't know he bowled, but it does seem he's uncomfortable. Looked laboured in the field, and against this sort of bowling, on such pitches, a bad back can be a nightmare. When you get forward, you have to stretch to get to the pitch of the ball, and when you go back, you need to stay really low and not just stand upright and poke your bat out like some of the Aussies have been doing. It can take a massive toll on his back... have seen it happen to VVS too. It's not an excuse imo, if he is playing with an injury, it's his fault.

Yeah, I'd back South Africa to deadbat their way to a draw from this situation. Been so incredible at that over the last 1-2 years.
I am not sure if South Africa would have been able to do it on these conditions...Apart from Amla and De Villiers, the rest are not really known for their ability against spin.

Mm, this pitch has a bit more in it for the spinners than the pitches they did that on, though (which were singularly dead tracks). Plus, better spinners
Wasn't Herath/Perera the spin combo in one of the Tests they dead batted?

Remember when Rad Haddin threw his keeping glove at a ball in India and gave up five runs?

Those were the days.

Once again Misbah just proves my point.. for someone with this kind of striking ability, to have a career strike rate of 41 and 5 centuries is just doing gross injustice to his own abilities and talent.
its a shame he probably doesn't realise himself how much more he could have achieved if he had played to his potential.

True. I don't think that pitch had as much turn as this one, though?
I think it turned a lot more. de Kock and de Villiers lost their off poles to deliveries that drifted in and pitched on middle and leg.

Edit: It was actually de Villiers and Amla. de Kock got one that spun in sharply and took the glove to short leg

if you can bat 6 hours and keep out 10 good balls per innings, consider yourself bradman

Jeez that super slow mo really showed how late Warner's pick up is against spinners.
