*Official* Pakistan v Australia in UAE 2014

I don't think too many people predicted disaster for Rogers actually; just Murphy really. The only thing I had against the selection was the fact that there were way too many specialist openers in the squad IIRC.

I'm not particularly optimistic about O'Keefe but he absolutely deserves his selection and if Australia are to play a second specialist spinner it should definitely be him at this point (and should have been at various other points). He doesn't look much but neither do any of the other domestic spinners right now and, unlike them, he's actually proven himself a good Shield bowler.

hey turns out smashing the zimbos around in a one dayer doesn't correlate to subcontinent red ball form

I know nothing about O'Keefe, but saying you're wrong now because you were wrong on a couple of occasions before has no logic.
a. I wasn't being serious
b. Surely they have would have lost credibility after being wrong multiple times

Can't trust you Australians anymore. You guys said Rogers would be a disaster but he actually did ok. Were all super against Johnson being picked but look at what he did. Thought Haddin was **** but he **** in all your faces.

SoK will probably do decently and you'll all be proven wrong yet again.
You forget that I exclusively predicted Johnson to win the Compton-Miller Medal before the first Ashes Test last summer.

That's what I was barracking for at the time from memory. Lyon easily the second best choice though :)

Tbf you are prone to making some outrageous statements Burgey.........law of averages states you're likely to get the odd one right.

iirc the second time 'round SOK's and Doherty's record in the last 2-3 shield seasons were very similar. High 20's for each of them. SOK had that horrible 2011-12 season which more than cancelled out Doherty's poor 2 shield games in the 2012/13 season.
Yeah, it was a couple of tweets from one of the stats guys (Most wickets, best averages).

Sheffield Shield Bowling Av. 2007- Mar 5th 2013 (min 20 wkts)

O'Keefe 29.11 - 63 wickets
Doherty 29.45 - 56 wickets
Voges 30.2
North 33.29
Maxwell 33.72
McGain 34.56 -70 wickets
Haurtz 36.4
Beer 37
Holland 42 - 58 wickets
Casson 43.31
Boyce 46.45
SSmith 50.45

Krejza 52.1 - 59 wickets
O'Brien 53.07
Lyon 53.25

O'Keffe has gunned it since then with 50 wickets at around 20, so it is not even close these days.

Australia take the field with a new wicketkeeper. UAE's Saqlain Haider filling in for Aus today as Haddin rests ahead of the Test. #pakvaus
