I don't know, the aussie battling performance didn't fill my boots with joy (or confidence—I hope this is not the aussie world cup squad !) I watched this game until 2:30 am and thought pakistan had it in the bag. Pakistan are an entertaining side, probably my second favourite team in terms of entertainability.
I should follow Pakistan. That's pretty much my life.

New Zealand actually had a team plan to deal with the paddle or scoop down the leg side. Their plan had the keeper moving to the leg side and first slip moving behind the stumps. So basically the keeper and slips all move across together as soon as the batsman shapes to play the shot. That gets the personnel in place faster than having first slip move all the way over to leg.
